Todd Raleigh was on the SportsAnimal, here’s what he said about Vols in the draft:

Forsythe- 3rd Round. Raleigh expects him to sign. His brother’s been through it though, so he won’t get cheated out of anything though.

Hawkins- 3rd Round. Raleigh was disappointed to see him go so in the 3rd, doesn’t know what he will do.

Morgado- 4th Round. Didn’t talk about whether he’ll return. Said he’s a good pitcher who had a bad year.

Toles- 4th Round. Said before draft it would take $1M to sign him, Raleigh didn’t think he’d be drafted so early. His mom called Raleigh this morning with a question about orientation. Thinks he’ll enroll, but it will come down to August 15th.

Hawn- 6th Round. Third time he’s been drafted, Raleigh thinks Hawn has a pretty set price in mind, if he gets the number he has in mind, he’ll sign, if not he’ll return. Says Hawn being local helps Tennessee.

Morton- 9th Round. Raleigh doesn’t like the Yankees, says it’s like being drafted in the 1st Round by the Brewers financially. Yankees took 7 HS kids in a row, probably looking to sign 2 or 3. Per Raleigh it all depends on his play this summer. If he pitches well the Yankees will do what it takes to sign him, if not he’ll be a Vol.

Kirkland- 12th Round. Probably won’t make it into Tennessee.

Polk- 13th Round. Going in Polk told scouts Top 8 rounds or don’t draft him. Raleigh thinks he’ll return.

McRae- 16th Round. Easy to sign, Raleigh thought Top 8-10 Rounds.

CTR believes all of the other players and signees are safe, regardless of where they’re drafted.

Well the only person I wish wasn't coming back is Raleigh...

You think Hawn will go higher or lower next year if he returns to college?

Kirkland would be stupid to sign as a 12th rd pick...he could go in the top 4-8 rounds easy if he does well at UT

The way the he worded it, sounds like there could be some qualifying issues. Purely speculation on my part. The gap between the highest and lowest signing bonuses in the 12th is huge.

If we lose a bunch of these guys the team will REALLY struggle this year....I mean REALLY struggle

I bet everytime you go to the mailbox you expect to find a package from Ted Kaczynski. :)

If PJ comes back, were only losing our 1st baseman and catcher. We have (in my opinion) the best defensive 3rd baseman in the SEC. Our outfield only had 3 errors all season. All of that equals (once again my opinion) the best defensive team in the SEC next year.

Try to find something negative in that. :)

You sent letters and e-mails to Hammy. You practiced Raleigh-bashing on this site DAILY. You said you weren't going to anymore games as long as he's the coach. Has any of that worked? NO! He's still the coach of the team we all love. Maybe you should try a SILENT protest, including on VolNation.

There's an old saying. It goes like this...
"You dance with who brung you, even if she's ugly."

A little surprised that Liles and Duffy haven't gotten drafted so far....also thought Ethan Bennett (led HS in HRs in nation) would get drafted

Maybe you should try being silent, your the only one who wants TR around. It does not matter who is playing on this team next year, they will go close to .500, finish at the bottom of the SEC again, and TR will probably get another year because of the situation he inherited.

Taylor Morton went to my school's rival school. All the talk around here is that he will almost certainly play for the vols next season. He is the real deal, very few pitchers around here could throw as well as he could.

I hope you're right. The Yankees are notorious for giving out-of-slot money. If he doesn't sign, he will most likely be a weekend starter next year. The lure of the PinStripes can be pretty strong to a young man. I hope he has some Orange blood flowing through his veins. GO VOLS!!!

I support the ENTIRE baseball team. The coach just so happens to be a part of it. Thanks for your prognostication, Debbie.

This kid is crazy if he passes up the Yankees to come to UT! These coaches will screw him up like they screw up every player they "coach." Ask Cody Stubbs if he thinks HE made the right decision coming to UT...These coaches don't know how to coach OR develop players.

You obviously have an agenda. Your agenda is starting to smell like a vendetta. If "gvill" means Goodlettsville, then it's definately a vendetta. Cody Stubbs will be an everyday starter next year. There was nowhere for him to play last year except DH. And let's be honest, he struggled, as most Freshmen do. I certainly don't think you have the credentials to advise Morton as to what's best for him. Being taken in the 9th Round is a FAR cry from playing in Yankee Stadium.

I think this is the case. Went to school with him. He isn't the sharpest, or hardest working(academically) tool in a box of worn out tools.

Dear Hobock,
I have no agenda but I know what I am talking about...I am still not convinced that you are not on the UT coaching staff. And gvill is "definately" not Goodlettsville...but I know what you are trying to say and I am not that guy. Morton will make his own decision based on what is best for him and I doubt Volnation will contribute to his decision. MY OPINION--which I am entitled to have is that he would be making a huge mistake. Raleigh can't coach and he doesn't develop players. Players get worse under him and that's a fact. He's also a vile person. I love the UT baseball team and the players are great guys--that is why I can't support this excuse for a coach.

I will leave you alone to wallow in your Raleigh-Rage. I'm not a coach. I'm not even qualified to coach T-Ball. :) Believe me when I tell you, every player, coach and recruit reads this forum. Just because you disapprove of my boy, TR, doesn't give you the right to try to sway players away from the program we all love.

I have no Rage at all in my life...the Raleigh version included. I don't hate him. I am just disappointed and frustrated that this is the best UT can do for a head baseball coach and it frustrates me to see the negative affect he has on our players and our baseball program. I highly doubt he will be swayed by me but I would tell him what I have said if I knew him anyway... for his own good. He should understand what he is getting into with all the facts.

Hobock.. I know for a fact that my peeps in Memphis know this Morton kid pretty well they tell me that his academic ability is very limited... and that he is going to sign with the Yankees.. unless your boy TR has someone else take his classes and exams for him and uses someone else's entrance exam scores to get him in.. I dont think his "schoolin" is top "O" his list of life's ambition for him. The kid will be better off going into the minors for whatever he signs for.... then like every other kid fights to get to the show.
