The oldest was reffing at soccer tourney so he didn't go. The wife and her brother-in-law got into a loud argument when the BIL found out we don't loan/give money to family

I’ve always found that giving a gift is a lot better than a loan. A four alarm fight will break out over a 5 dollar loan in my family.

The BIL has a $50K truck and no job. He asked for a loan. Wife said no, we don't loan $$$ to family. The BIL then said "Why do you think you are entitled to have a Mercedes?" and she point blank responded "because I have a good F--king job and I can afford it."

With that being said, my wife told them she would make sure their kids are fed, they have a place to live, and their kids are clothed. All the parents have to do is sell the vehicles and get and keep a job.

We don't give loans to family. We will make sure any kids involved will have food, shelter, clothes but any financial assistance has strings attached and is considered a "gift"

Son might be calming down in soccer though. Only 1 incident for his HS team this year.

He plays center defender in soccer and started at strong safety this year. He plays both positions very similarly.

Her family is from just south of Millington, TN. Wife lived there til she was 8 and stayed there in summers. Fun fact - one of the closest neighbors back then was Justin Timberlake's family.
