No thank you

@joevol33 made the day trip today to see the brother-in-law in Somerset, KY (as my wife would say her "only good" relative HA) and went through your neck of the woods. My wife has not been able to make the trip for about ten years, so it was nice to have a day when she finally felt like making a road trip to see family. She has had a very good summer, which explains why I have not been online as much. When we passed through Pineville, I noticed that your alma mater was back in school (I still don't know how someone like you made it over that tall chain link fence--I'm betting you went under it) and that the Kentucky Off Track I once frequented had been converted in to a dialysis center (with a liquor store next door). I still want to hit Wasioto Winds (once I start chasing the little ball again). The giant chicken you used to molester was still at Ye Olde Spur Oil Establishmente and looked about the same as it did several years ago (so I don't think you did too much damage, at least not physically) HA. There at Bailey Switch got on 229 to avoid the 487.5 red lights around the Corbin interchange, a little trick I learned many moons ago on numerous trips from the Tri Cities to and from Satan's Lair (Lexington, aka Wildcat Central). I was surprised how very little the area had changed there, except for that one stretch of road on 229 just after you pass Levi Jackson State Park going toward London before you get to the big flea market. The speed limit on the state road went down to 35, and I bet there were 40 new houses (all Craftsman style, ticky-tack Little Boxes would make Pete Seeger proud) with driveways coming into that stretch of road (no subdivision access road until you pass the driveways?). It was strange, but it was eastern Kentucky after all. You need to tell the folks at the McDonald's in Pineville they need to change their sign to a new one, one that actually says "McDonalds." I told them this in about 1993. Maybe they'll listen to you because you're a yokel. We ate at a fabulous restaurant in Someret - highly recommended: Wasabi's, a Japanese-Mexican place. My brother-in-law said the owner had about three of those, don't know if it's a "chain restaurant" or not, but it was top shelf for sure. If anyone is ever up that way, it's well worth a stop. The chicken fajitas were better than the ones at any of the Mexican restaurants around here.

All in all, we had a good day, not too hot, wife didn't get sick after eating, and safe travels. God is good.

Glad you all had a good time. I need to get up there one weekend!
