He's ok. I just feel like rap is so desperate for the next real MC to step up, that everyone is over hyping him. JMHO

I can agree with that. He pretty much said that he's trying to be that person in the control verse. Who knows? These new guys are exciting though. All of the people he mentions in that verse are really good.

It was an absolutely brilliant move what he did, it got him directly in the spotlight. The key will be when dudes start firing back, many rappers have tried this to make a name till someone torched them. I just prefer more creative but I loved Hit Em Up, but Pac made you feel that song. Just feels like KL is doing it to just do it. Hopefully it sparks rap, cause honestly I can't stand most of the new stuff.

I don't think anyone will respond. He's not coming at anybody, he's just saying despite his friendships, he's trying to be the best. Hit Em Up was obviously Pac coming directly at B.I.G. I'm excited about the way the rap culture is changing and these new artists. I'm younger though, so I guess that's to be expected.

I feel old, back when I was a kid Pac, Biggie and Nas would have killed these young whipper snappers. Lol Which explains my love for Berzerk, definite old school feel to it. Plus he's so clever in the way he says sh*t. I miss dudes that told stories, which also explains my Lupe love. Lol

That kinda reinforces my problem with rap, someone needs to respond bring some excitement back. (Old man speech) If you whispered a dudes name back in the old days, there was a dis track the next day. Even if what you said wasn't bad, it made rap fun. Imo I was comparing it to Hit Em Up because both songs are pretty straight forward, I don't usually like that. Wait did you just call me old. Check.YouTube tomorrow, dis track in the works fool. Lol

Lupe went crazy. F&L and and The Cool were classics. Anything after that, I can barely listen to. Too political for me. It's an exciting time because you have all of these legends (Jay, Nas, Em) and then all of the new artists just making great music together.

The Cool is one of my favorite CDs. So glad you didn't mention Lil Wayne as a legend. Lol I'm glad Em seems like he's back to being Em, controlled chaos.

Haha. I see where you're coming from. Those beefs produced some amazing music. I'm listening to Ether as I type this.

Wayne is garbage now. His old stuff was decent, but he just fell off. Drake definitely has to be in the discussion for best new artists after this latest album. He might be a little corny, but the guy can rap.

Ether is straight fire. That album because it wasn't Illmatic caught a lot of flack, but I actually think it's alright.

Lollipop was the beginning of the end for Wayne. Lol Drake could be great, but he needs someone to push him in the right direction. IMO

I'm probably biased since I met the guy, but I think he could be considered great. No one that is more old school really likes him, but the way he put his city on the map and helps the community while making great music is pretty awesome. Drake was one of the people that said something about Kendricks song. Paraphrasing here. He said he lost respect for KL, said if you are going to say fawk you to everyone say fawk you, don't halfway do it.

Also on Bustas next CD him and Em are going to do a 6 minute battle rap against each other. Should be pretty good.

That should be really entertaining. Drake and Kendrick are good friends. Went on tour together and everything. One of the best concerts I've been to. I could see why Drake would feel a certain way about the verse. Those two are the frontrunners for the best new school artist.

I get where Drake was coming from, if you wanna claim the throne claim it, don't stand by it. I do like that KL respected the old cats, and that he threw Andre 3000 in that group.

I thought Berzerk was a Beastie Boys song the first time I heard it.
