Randy Moss has beef with Patterson for wearing #84 with Vikings

If it is not retired, it is fair game in my opinion.

Randy Moss could have been the best of all time had he found the right attitude on and off the field. I thought I would find out why he did not play his entire career there. After all, if they are going to retire his number surely he was a lifer.

He played his first 7 years with the Vikings and they TRADED him to the Raiders. At football.about.com from 2/23/2005 there is the following: "After weeks of speculation, the Minnesota Vikings have agreed to trade enigmatic wide receiver Randy Moss to the Oakland Raiders, a franchise that has been the eventual destination of many NFL malcontents and misfits over the years." Maybe he should stop and think how little the Vikings thought of him at the time that they would be willing to trade his all-worldliness to the Raiders for a middle linebacker (Napoleon Harris) and 2 7th round draft picks.

After stints at Oakland and New England, he returned to the Vikings where he was WAIVED him.

If they did not value his services worthy of keeping him in his prime, what's to say they value his services enough to retire the jersey. Mr. Moss should move on.

Because of Randy Moss' attitude I doubt his jersey will ever be retired, nor will he most likely go into the HOF...

But I do think that it is hard to say a rookie is more talented than one of the most talented, bone headed receivers that ever played the game.

The only question about Moss and him getting into the HoF is whether or not he will be first ballot.

I'd take Randy Moss, in his prime, over CP every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

I'm not a Moss fan but I have to say Randy Moss has a valid point.

Reading through this thread there must be a lot of young people posting in it who doesn't remember how great Randy Moss was.

If I was CP I wouldn't really want Moss's old number. I would want something I could make a name for myself in.

If Moss wanted the Vikings to retire his jersey number, he probably shouldn't have pouted and loafed and made himself so useless that they had to trade him away.

Moss (and T.O. fits well here) may have been very difficult to deal with. But they are both still first ballot HoFers. Anyone who thinks otherwise about Moss is probably just a Packers or a Lions fan

Being the best receiver in the game is more than just being the best deep threat in the game.

Dude wasn't just a deep threat he could do it all. I suggest you go watch some randy moss highlights, cause to say moss is top 30 just shows you're football knowledge. Btw the reason you think he was just a deep threat reicever I cause he was the best deep ball reicever of all time.

I'm a CP fan and all, but come on. Randy Moss was an athletic freak and is arguably a top 30 receiver all time. It's extremely premature to say CP is more talented than Randy Moss.

I would say definitely a top 10 WR all time. Easily the most talented WR ever, IMO, but when the chips were down he would give up so I can't put him in the conversation with Rice, but judging purely on skill, Moss was the best.

He wasn't as strong as Calvin Johnson, but he was probably slightly quicker (top speed I'd say was about even), ran better routes, had better hands, and jumped higher.

Guys like Jerry Rice and Marvin Harrison played most of their careers with stable franchises and great QBs. How ridiculous would Moss's career numbers be if he had been in the same position.?
