Randy Moss to be traded to the Vikings

Not really surprised. Moss is that rare breed of athlete who can be very productive and yet still be detrimental to his team.

Why not the Bengals so they can have the single most malignant WR corps in football history?

Rumor has it that he asked for a trade after week 1.

Not sure if this is a smoke screen or what. A lot of rumors floating around right now.

:cray: Moss has been my favorite reciever in the NFL for a long long time & I loved the day my Pat's traded for him. It's going to suck seeing him leave but I understand what the Pat's are doing. Their was no way they were going to re-sign him in the offseason so they might as well try & get something for him.

I do know the Pat's get the Raiders 1st round pick (which could be a top 5 pick) in next years NFL Draft, I would LOVE to see the Pat's draft A.J. Green but everyone knows how the Pat's work they are very cheap & will more than likely end up trading down in the draft for better value like they always do.

This will restore the image I have in my head of him eating Turducken in a Vikings uniform.

The Patriots hustle other teams better than anyone. Once again, they get another third round pick.

and what do they get in return that will help them win right now?

That's what I don't understand about this trade.
There are better teams in the AFC than the Pats but no team is head-and-shoulders above them right now.
Was Moss that big of a distraction to get rid of him now and get nothing in return that helps them this year?

Maybe they have something up their sleeve and are putting a deal together for another WR?

Moss has been less than productive thus far. The Hoodie has phased him out. He just hasnt replaced him.

Brady doesn't throw to Moss that much anymore. Moss is still a great WR. did you see the one hand grab he had against the Jets?

sure I saw it, but how much do they scheme/design plays for him in NE anymore? Its pretty clear that after his slow start this season, the Pats moved away from forcing the ball to him.

He's good still, and I expect him to do well for the rest of the year with 4, but the Pats clearly disassociated themselves with him.

oh no doubt, the pats aren't using him. sad considering what a huge weapon he is. put it on the board, ole #4 won't be afraid to toss it to him

I'd be willing to bet that Brett's wranglers just got tighter just thinking about having Randy runnning down field.

With Percy having issues, this is just what that organization needed.

Don't worry.

Bill will trade that pick for two fourth rounders in 2012, and then proceed to keep trading until New England has the entire fourth round in 2014.

Nothing really.

Wouldn't be surprised if they attempted to trade for another WR with Mankins.

Price will be good, he just isn't ready. The only real comparable player is Brandon Tate, but he isn't Moss. It will certainly enable teams to gameplan around Welker instead of Moss, making it much more dificult to get the ball to Welker every other play -- quite literally.

The thing that is puzzling is the fact that they would have received a compensation pick regardless. I guess they were factoring in that other teams, specifically AFC rivals would attempt to sign Moss.

Nevertheless, Moss was deadset on leaving, this year or the next.

Telling the media his feelings was a no-no for BB.

Regardless, he was still very important to the team. Decoy, or deep threat, he was an essential part. One of the main reasons Welker and Hernandez have been open is because of Moss.

Garbage.

Both of Brady's picks are for that very reason. Brady still had the delusion that it was 2007 and Moss was going to catch the ball in triple coverage.

Regardless, his deep threat ability opened up the slot players. Brandon Tate has comparable speed, so we will see how that turns out.

O'Brien isn't the innovater that McDaniels and Weis are but I can guarantee that they tried to get the ball to him.
