yes, he did make some better play calling last night. But he is too predictable and most of the time does not do a very good job
calling the offense.

Last night was the exception.

arclight, anybody that knows anything about calling an offense knows how predictable RS is.

His inept predictable playcalling hurt us against UF.

When one can sit there and predict the play from their couch...any DC can sit back and call a defense to stop it most of the time.

You can have whatever opinion of Randy that you like. There are legitimate concerns . . . but I just don't get how you criticize an OC less than 12 hours after a 21 point comeback?!?

One night does not make up for several seasons of bad play calling....We have won 10 less games and scored less points in the Randy era than in the Cutcliffe era....we need some consistency

How come every time I see a Randy Sanders thread, the tune "Dueling Banjoes" starts playing in my head?

It takes more than one game to change seasons of bad play-calling, It's called being fair weather...Ypu have to be able to make quick adjustments and RS has proved on more than one occasion that he cant..

No idea what that meant.

If you want to see "fair weather", go check out the in game thread from last night. There was plenty of "fair weather" going around. :D

As someone just recently put it...it was not your OC all of a sudden doing well...it was the heart and determination of Clausen that
got UT the win.

The kid flat out went out and won the game for us.

loved sander's call on the fake screen. it would have been 6 if the pass had been more on target.

Lest we all forget. Cutliffe had a small advantage over Sanders. The advantage was someone named Manning who might have given a bit more impetous to the UT offense than we have had since.

With Peyton at quarterback, I might be a good Offensive Coordinator.

What's funny in all of this? Over on TigerRag they're calling for Mile's to be fired.

I guess they're not subsribing to the Les is More theory any longer.

Do you also blame Randy for the 5-6 dropped passes that all would have obivously gone for Touchdowns in the Bayou. The fake screen pass could have been another touchdown. I can think of 7-8 plays that Sanders called that should have given us touchdowns. Unfortunately, the receivers were unable to catch those balls.

Was it Randy's call for Ainge to sling the ball blindly for the interception while being tackled in the inzone? :banghead: Was it Randy's call for Ainge to get the ball knocked out of his hand in the first series? :banghead: Did Randy make the calls for Ainge to overthrow all those balls in the first half? :banghead: Were these bad OC calls or bushleague play by the players???

Don't blame the Coordinator when receivers lose concentration and drop balls on a wide open field or when other players blunder. The play called by the OC is what gives them the wide open field.

Randy called the plays in the second half last night also. Maybe I didn't see what you saw but 34 points in the last half looked like a plan working to me.

Some on this board have said that our OC could make adjustments but last night proves them WRONG. :bad:

Let's stop the whining and get on with the season. I believe we turned a great corner last night. I hated the first half as much as anyone but I am greatly encouraged with how we ended the game. Our boys showed great heart, and better conditioning. Most of all, our boys did what it took to get the "W" in our column.

Go Vols beat the Rebels Saturday

I will be completely honest and say that Sanders made some great plays in the LSU game. What hurt him was that in the first half, and even a couple plays in the second half the players did not execute. Its not the OC's fault when he calls a beautiful play to the FB streaking up the sideline wideopen and he drops it. There were a number of plays like that last night. I think a number of Sanders problems in the first two games was not his calls, but the QB and WR executing them. Ainge is NOWHERE near Clausen in terms of "being a QB." Ainge is a great "combine QB" but nobody wins a football game at a combine. Physical tools are only part of the equation and Ainge's mental aspect of his game is way below where it needs to be to be a successful SEC QB.

I have freaking loved that play since I first saw Spurrier run that on us a few years ago. It freaking always works if we catch the $@#$@#$@# ball!
