Rank the SEC Athletic Directors

That will tell you how much support the football programs will get.

I'm certainly not familiar enough with them to have an opinion even a bad one and I can't imagine many others being able to either...perhaps you should reword it as 'rank the SEC athletic Programs'....just a recommendation...

I agree. I seriously doubt that most people could tell you what an AD does on a day to day basis.

I don't really care where everyone else it at but I believe TN ad program is in the bottom 3 or 4 in total. We sux at every sport currently from a championship standpoint..

In Hart is at the bottom Imo from having a freaking clue.. All he is worried about is more botox.. Keeping his hair from getting messed up.. Maybe that's why he liked dools so much.. N I bet his favorite show is nip n tuck due to the plastic surgery he has had... .

Some will agree n some will not... Lol

TN fans don't have a lot to be proud of other than past tradition of winning n that's getting a little old... I hope TN fans are at a point to demand change if cbj n Martin don't work out.

I don't even know where to begin with this one.

I think its a little unfair to judge Hart yet. Its not like he was handed winning programs, and destroyed them. They was like this when he arrived. How long should it take to put out all these dumpster fires?

I think Bama made a great hire with Battle - multimillionaire with a lot of charisma and a high character guy.

I think Hart fell into Butch Jones and he will be able to ride that horse for years imo. He sat on his hands too long and should have already had someone lined up knowing that Dooley could fail. He good old boyed, and blind squirreled his way into a great hire late in the process. Who knows where we would be now if Butch had taken one of the other offers he received prior to being offered by UT.

He pens a good letter, says the right things, and seems extremely smart but he's definitely old school.

Martin will have a great team this season and Butch will have us turned around in time to beat the snot out of VT in Bristol.

Somebody has wisely decided to raise money and bank some of it for the AD which Hamilton wasn't smart enough to do. It is kind of like replacing the football coach at an school that went 0-10 last year. Hart doesn't have to do anything to look good compared to Hamilton.

Now that Alabama's AD has stepped into retirement...

I would say Florida and Arkansas have the best AD situation inthe SEc followed by Kentucky...

Florida and Arkansas probably make up part of the top 3 to 5 in the nation with USCw's AD.

Jeff Long handled the Petrino situation correctly and made the right move to let that cancer go. But his one year hire of John L Smith was a disaster. Getting Beliema was a welcome surprise for that program and probably the most covert hiring from an AD for a SEC program. Seriously, nobody here in Arky knew who the coach was until the press conference announcement.

Absolutely true. People here were blindsided (albeit in a good way). Compared to that, ours was a damn 3 ring circus.

I definately agree that Smith was a disaster, but I guess if you are Long and only want a guy for 1 year to quickly fill a gap and to allow you to take your time and hire the "right guy"; your list isn't very long of guys that would do that. However in hindsight I bet he would have done it differently and just promoted an assistant as interim.

I believe Hart did the best job he could at keeping it a secret. The reason so many rumors were swirling was because of how many trolls there were. JMO...

Yup.

Grudenmania certainly didn't help Hart's situation last fall. The number of insane rumors flying around at that point was insane. Some folks were serious, others were chumming the waters.

Did Hart "stumble" onto CBJ? Perhaps. But I am always reminded of the line from the old Rolling Stones song. "You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, well you might find, you get what you need."

This. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. Three ring circus? Didn't the wankers on this site contribute to the the hysteria? Thinking this was the best job in the world, and Gruden would be dumb enough to give up a great broadcasting job to be scrutinized every second of every day by posters on VN. What do you think the job of AD is? It's a CEO position, hiring, firing, balancing books, fund raising, and making decisions on new buildings. Do you want a pretty face or an experienced grinder? I don't know much about Hart so I'm not here to support or defend him but I know he has a pressure packed job that not just anybody can do well. I'd say the verdict is still out.

NICE!

How was Hart supposed to handle the Gruden that was started by places like VN and others?

Look no further than the band mess this week. The athletic dept. made a statement and people are still complaining.

Once these Internet rumors go viral it is a full time job to manage this crap.

You know it's always better to be thought a fool than to type and remove all doubt. You act like you know Hart so well. It's laughable.:boredom:

He was an interim; it wasn't really a hire. The point was for a one-year situation like that so they wouldn't have to make a knee jerk reaction and (rather than do a proper, longer search) abruptly hire someone...which was kind of like we did with Dooley.

I could not put a name with the face on most of them so I will refrain from ranking them.
