:eek:lol:

You have some good coaches on there, but number 1 certainly isn't a coach who pumped his players full of steroids and couldn't win anything until Switzer quit.

60-3! And I don't care about roids. Good. I'm glad he did that.

I don't think its possible to compare coaches (or programs) that are separated in history by 40, 50, and 60 years.

I wonder how many times Neyland will be listed ahead of Bryant...Just because Neyland beat Bryant when he was at UK doesn't make Neyland the better head coach. Bryant's only competition for #1 should be Knute Rockne

Neyland DID go 5-0-2 against Bryant. That should be worth something. Not saying that Neyland is the better of the two, just saying that facing Bryant seven times and finishing with a 5-0-2 record in those games carries a bit of weight.

Just my two cents.

Not really. It was Neyland in his prime v. Bryant with his first team as a brand new head coach. If Neyland coached against a Bryant-led Bama team, things wouldn't be lopsided like that

I'm surprised no one has said saban. Like it or not he is the only coach to win a championship with two different schools in the modern era.

Again, I am not saying that Neyland was better than Bryant. I was just stating why some people feel that he is.

I think he is the best in the game right now, but I don't think his overall body of work is enough to place him with the all time greats yet. If he can keep Bama at the level they're at right now he'll be there.

Nick Saban: 124-50-1 (.708) 4conference and 2 national championships

Darrel Royal: 167-47-5 (.762) 11 conference and 2 national championships
Knute Rockne: 105-12-5 (.881) 4 national championships

Good list - but I think it should definitely include:
John McKay: 127-40-8 (.726) 9 conference and 4 national championships
Howard Jones: 194-64-21 (.695) 7 conference and 4 national titles

Two other groups of coaches could make the picture even foggier

non-FBS coaches:
John Gagliardi: 471-126-11 (.775) 30 conference and 4 national championships
Eddie Robinson: 408-168-15 (.690)

really old (pre-Rockne) coaches:
Amos Alonzo Stagg: 314-199-35 (.573) 12 conference and 2 national championships
Glen Pop Warner: 318-106-32 (.697) 7 conference and 4 national championships
Fielding Yost: 198-35-12 (.808) 10 conference and 6 national championships
John Heisman: 185-66-16 (.692) 5 conference and 1 national championship
