Ranking if we win Saturday

Relax Vol Fans, there's absolutely nothing to worry about. When you come to a fork in the road, take it.

That was our first loss of the season. We have plenty more games to go. I think we stand a pretty good chance. Just my humble opinion. I say we will lose to bama and maybe georgia but I think we have a good chance of winning or at least compete in the rest of the games

I say no. People will just say Florida was overrated and ranked too high. I think if we win and beat South Alabama and head into the Georgia game at 4-1 we could be in the 22-25 range. I would love to go into the Georgia game with both teams at 4-1. Bringing two of my best buddies that are Georgia fans. I want them to see Neyland rocking.

I tend to think Florida is overrated and was ranked too high (preseason especially) and would think a victory by UT would knock them out of the top 25.

But I don't think a victory would guarantee us a spot in the top 25 even with another win over South Alabama. A win over Georgia would almost guarantee us a spot though.

So let me get this straight, if we beat a team in the top 20 we wouldn't be ranked just because we got beat by the #2 ranked team? Someone please explain the logic in this. We would crack the top 25 just barely.

It would be nice to win the game and find out. I doubt we would be ranked until a couple of more wins but who knows?

However, if we do win... we'll get a flood of "are the vols the best 1 loss team? here's why!"

If we lose it'll just be more of the same. Some making positives, some making negatives and then others just acting too cool for all of it and calling UT the worse fanbase of all time... ever.

"If you're positive you're dumb. If you're negative you're dumb. Me? I just like to spend all my time on an internet forum calling other people dumb".

If we win UF fans will be calling for Muschamp's head. At that point the Dooley factor will have been eliminated. Beating us is how SEC coaches rise to prominence. Losing to us is how they get fired.

And, yet, to follow up on my above statement:

UT will still have a worse fanbase.

DAE UT is horrible at football and fans?

Ftr with what I've been shown thus far, we won't win. Which will piss off a fair number since Miami did.

 I don't think we should be ranked even if we do win (not likely). I love the Vols, and have for 45 years, but if they win I would have to say, "even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then". When they win on a consistent basis is when they should be ranked.

Even if the Vols win 49-0 they shouldn't be ranked. Anyone can tell they have been struggling. The win vs AP was good but other than that they got lucky vs wku and then curbstomped by Oregon.

They can be ranked by the end of the season but not anytime soon.

Pot calling kettle!

Well...wait. Have been struggling would imply we've had success in the past, unlike the program that gave WKY it's only win this year. And let's face it, Western Kentucky really isn't that good.

Just sayin.

They'd get votes with a win, but I don't think they'd get ranked without 1) a lot of help (multiple teams that would be above us losing) and 2) it would have to be a massive blowout, like ridiculous.

It's realtive to where you currently are ranked (we're not in the top 30 based on the also receiving votes section), how the teams that are above you do in that given week, how bad any recent losses were, etc

We'd have to jump a lot of teams that would also either be 3-1 or 4-0...and just beating a low 20s team isn't likely to do that on its own unless it's a blowout.
