Just for the fun of it, given who we have back, where does everyone think we will be ranked starting out next year, and given the year we had this year?

After last year and the squad we had coming back i wil not speculate. I prefer to say top 50 so live above expectations.

top 15....Just as long as the expectations aren't as high as they were this year...who knows though?

Losing over half the starters on offense and defense we will not be ranked in the top 25 for probably 2 years.

I'd say in the 20-25 range if we pull it together and win a bowl game.

That would be my guess (but that's also a big "IF" there, Milo. . .).

Man, we lose a boatload of quality people...but that might turn out to be a good thing.

Having the quality is only part of the story...that quality has to produce!

actually our defense might not be as bad as some people think next year. we lose our d-line but i think we have quality depth to back it up. (Xavier Mitchell, Turk McBride, Tony McDaneil, and ive heard J.T Mapu may be coming back). We hardly lose anybody in our seconday. THe only thing that worried me is the linebacker position.

Who's our biggest loss on offense and who's our biggest loss on defense for next year? (Which player?)

biggest lose on defense would have been allen before he got hurt. nows its lookin like either jason hall or parys harelson. on offense it would be one of the linemen. probably douglas.

I think they'll be ranked in the upper teens something like #18. I think they were ranked #15 in the 03 pre-season polls after the godawful 02 season. The biggest concern is the d-line and obviously the quarterback.

i think 15.

everyone will be talking about the offense getting a new oc. they think that will magically flush our problems.

Not even in your wildest dreams will UT start anywhere near that. In fact, I think you'll be lucky to be ranked anywhere near the top 25. My reasoning is that if you look at AU last year, they went. undefeated in '04, and finished at #3. Preseason this year: #16, because of the graduation of their prominent seniors.
The preseason picks take into account not so much the previous years finish, but who left and who they have coming up for the current year.
So if you look at UT this year, and who was lost to graduation, etc.,
and what coaching changes are being made, I think the pollsters are going to look at UT as a program starting a rebuilding process.

Maybe if we get a good OC hire that will keep us on the map. ND may make the pollsters pay attention to that. It is not likely.

Top 20, not because we got better.  Only because of our name and reputation.

That and 79 cents will get you cup of coffee, but not much else.

matters who we bring in on our coaching staff. I say we can start off around 14th if Fulmer makes the right choices and we have no problems in the offseason.

Somewhere between 20 and 25 seems about right, primarily based on the more favorable at-home schedule.
