Ranking of CFB jobs in 2013

You have to admit that even though we've been in a slump for the last few years and haven't even been to a bowl game in the last two years, us being ranked that high nationally in all of college football shows how great it is to be a Tennessee Vol!

how in god's name did they put some flash in the pan program with absolutely no history #2?

i stopped reading the list right there

Just so we r clear- the list is talking about coaching jobs this year.. Not the greatest programs of all time or anything like that.

It said in the #3 slot that it was just a joke and they are really ranked #41. You quit too soon.

Shows ya how far we have dropped in the last few years. If we don't win immediately with bUTch, this program will be spoken of in the past tense forever.

I agree they should be closer but UM has bounced back recently where as UT hasn't.

After this year we'll be back in the top 10!! Remember we have a "coach" not a politician now....if we can pull an 8 win season with the bowl win we will be headed to a major uprising in the SEC!!! Have my first set of season tickets and look forward to watch us return to glory!! Hate living in charleston sc and listening to all these "lamecock" fans.

Auburn ahead of UT? The others in the SEC I understand...but Auburn!?! Where do they dig these guys up?

Guess which sec school has the most undefeated season in the last 20 years.

Tennessee and Alabama are the only other schools to have undefeated season. Each have 1.

The other school has 3

I got it...but a better gig than UT!?! How many of those seasons were not while on probation or grounds for probation or may yet be? Scum of the conference imo.

Just to play devil's advocate, how is Tennessee definitively a better gig?

Auburn has accomplished as much or more in recent years.

Both have challenges and drawbacks

I think it's splitting hairs personally

Fair enough...
More SEC titles
More NC's (2nd most in the SEC, I believe Gator :))
Better town
Better state, for that matter
Fewer issues with the NCAA
More NFL players (including several in the pro-bowl this year, Foster, Manning, Berry etc.)
Better education (standards many here have not embraced yet as they have there)
Better coach, in fact we have the best staff in the country :)
Our trees are not dying
And did I mention UT is NOT in Alabama

To me, its apples and oranges. UT and AU are not in the same class. I know UT has been down, but AU wasnt really takin names last year...
Oh, and as our esteemed new coach pointed out, we have the winningest program in the country since 1927! GBO! BTW, dont those orange and white checkerboards give EVERY body chillbumps!?!?

Unfortunately, Coach Jones is wrong. Oklahoma has the most wins. UT is 3rd.

Anyway, Auburn has had more recent success than UT. Everyone seems to think they bought the 2010 title but they haven't been found guilty of anything as of today. In 1993-94 they were on probation so you're going back 20 years.

With that said, I think the jobs are about equal.

The first two bolded are opinionated.

Concerning the 3rd bolded, we have not had a major violation in 20 years.

Concerning the 4th bolded, according to this Best Colleges | College Rankings | US News Education , we are have the better education.

Concerning the 5th bolded, that is opinionated and not really true if you look at it from what has happened so far.

Concerning the 6th bolded, that is irrelevant.

Concerning the 7th bolded, being in Alabama gives us a recruiting advantage over you. Closer to Georgia and Florida, and Alabama itself has a lot of talent.

Also, concerning the SEC titles and NCs, we have had 2 SEC titles since y'all's last one, and if we wanted to claim titles like y'all, we could claim 9.
Not trying to flame, just trying to add to the discussion.

And just to be clear, I do think Tennessee is obviously the better program historically. But I think it is almost equal in terms of the better coaching job. Although I think both of those jobs are better than Nebraska and UCLA.

Agree both are better than Nebraska, Aubie...and nothin personal about the tree reference... I stand by my opinions though, and we dont count titles like bammers, and we dont buy them either. GBO!

Technically everybody "buys" their championships by paying all of the staff on and off the field. Not to mention spending money on everything else involved with football, whether it be advertising, getting the field/facilities ready, etc. Is this a poor attempt at saying that we paid for Cam Newton? Please, if you have any proof, go ahead and contact the NCAA. I'm sure they'd love to hear of any proof.

Slow your role their cowboy. No need in getting your feelings hurt over somebody's post.

But seriously, something fishy happened with Newton.

So yesterday and real soon we will be TOP 10.... I cannot argue with present rating, in fact it reflects confidence that Vols are only down temporarily... pretty accurate. We shall return to elite, but #18 is in good company with good teams. GBO!!!

Accurate, if not slightly favorable given the programs coaching carousel, performance, and decline over the past decade.
