ok i will admit i am not mel kiper but how can we sat our receivers are not good when the dang qb cant get the ball deep enough to them, in front of them, or to them instead of 3 feet above them.

This thread had real potential. And then the Worley Hate comes out.

Sad, maybe one day you will have a son playing a sport everybody who sees him will constantly tell the world how horrible he is!!!

I hope someday my son is lucky enough to get boo'ed as the starting QB for the Vols.

I'm sure he will realize when he does well, those same boo'ers will be cheering for him. It's part of the gig.

I think O-line wise, since it's a topic of concern usually, is great at the LT and RT spots, but our guards and centers can't run block very well. We are set up to pass the football 70% of the time, and we have a coach who wants to run the football a lot and we don't have the interior lineman nor RBs to do it efficiently. QB wise Worley just doesn't have a very good arm or the arm strength to efficiently drive the ball down the field. Up till S. Bama, I thought Worley's big strength was limiting turnovers, but as I go back and watch games I begin to notice that Worley really tries to drive balls into his receivers because of his lack of arm strength. TE wise we are very bad right now, it's that simple. WR wise we have play makers, but we are young and have very few players who understand route running and blocking.

If we're going letter grade, no one gets above a C+. That's also only through 5 games, yet to see if someone can emerge as a playmaker, or at least a B

Hate to get into that discussion again, but if you notice, everywhere Peyton Manning has played the wr's end up being drastically better than they have ever been before. Maybe all this time it's these no name wr's that have been making Peyton look good instead of the other way around. :loco: QB play is 100% the most important thing we need to improve.

Thats true.

I dont even think Justin's father would compare em to Peyton tho.

You've never played football?? This forum might not be for you then, because clearly the rest of VN has years upon years of high level organized football knowledge and experience as evidenced by the meltdown threads that are generated virtually every Saturday night.

One of your best posts to date. :clapping:

QB- incomplete
WR- incomplete
TE- incomplete
OL- B+
RB- B

Grading the top three now would be like grading a 2 hour final after 15 minutes.

Our OL is just flat over rated when it comes to run blocking. Even though their pass blocking is solid most of the time, it's not perfect either. These guys just aren't living up to the hype. Period.

Obviously the other coaches in the SEC don't agree with you;

OFFENSE
First-Team
OL - Antonio Richardson, Tennessee

Second-Team
OL - Ja'Wuan James, Tennessee
OL - *Zach Fulton, Tennessee

Third-Team
C - James Stone, Tennessee

Hint for Worley: Quit making delusional statements about how you feel that you are playing well.

Truth will buy you respect. Your arm sure won't. :hi:

That's what's wrong with you and half this board, you believe everything you see. Just like all you gobbers came on here after Austin Peay and acted like Worley was the second coming because he went 11-13. I don't care what a preseason all offense picks showed, this is a different scheme and our guards and center can't run block against anyone good. All are great pass blockers, but you are going to have to bring a better argument then a preseason all sec team pick.

That's not true but keep on thinking whatever you want to think. EVERYONE has designed their D to stop UT's run so far... even the teams UT has passed more effectively against. Nonetheless, the OL has created run lanes. The Vols currently avg 215 ypg after not having avg'd more than 160 yds in any season since 2006.

UT is currently 3rd in ypc in the SEC behind Mizzou who has played no one and UK. They are ahead of USCe, Ark, Ole Miss, and Aub who are all considered run first teams and have played equal or weaker schedules thus far.

I'm not ready to say they have arrived as a dominant run blocking OL yet either.... It is not valid to draw the conclusion you did at this juncture.

I'll give it a go...
QB- 4: Not much to be said here. Worley is a below average QB.

RB- 7: Our run game has been improved thus far. We are no UGA, but we can hold our own rushing the ball most of the time.

WR- 6: We have young talent. Look for major improvement next season. For now, our WR's are pretty middle of the road. That being said, we would know more about them if we had a competent QB.

TE- 6: Downs and Branisel are decent, and have shown flashes. Seem to be blocking well. Need to be thrown the ball more to get a better idea.

OL- 7: Not as good as they're made out to be, but still a solid group of veterans.

In conclusion, if we had a serviceable QB our offense would be middle of the road in the SEC. Sadly with Worley, we are badly impaired when he has the ball.
