Ranking the Soulsborne games

So DS2 is considered to be the weakest of the Souls games. In a lot of areas they traded out classic Souls difficulty for just plain out annoying, in an attempt to accomplish "being a hard game"

Can you tell me how far along he is? Like is he literally in the first hour, or has he opened up some areas already?
I’ll check. I think he’s really early on as it’s frustrating and he quits but I’ll make sure and circle back.

He’s gotten to the section right at the hole in the wall with 6 ballistas with the knights behind them. He said he hasn’t hit a boss yet. Does that help?

DS2’s problem is they had too many areas where they substituted hard/challenging for just downright annoying. The Black Gulch area with the poison statues everywhere comes to mind. That’s not hard, it’s just tedious and annoying.

I’m about to wrap up DS2 (Scholar of the First Sin) but I’ve hit the same wall known as “Fume Knight” that I hit last time. Only Souls Boss I’ve never beaten, across all games.

I played dark souls 3, got it used, its a tough game for me, i do need to try the newer games.

I’m in DS3 now. I was doing just fine until I got to the Dancer and beyond. Holy crap did they crank the difficulty starting with the Dancer.

Dancer was easy, git gud scrub.

..... nahhh jk, Dancer worked me countless times lol. Absolutely beautiful boss, really cool to look at, but definitely brutal.

It took me probably about 15 tries. I was starting to wonder if I needed to go a different direction.

Anyone have advice for fighting the bull in Sekiro? I’m curious because it’s about to ruin that game for me which is a shame as I’ve liked it up to this point. No strategy works and he kills me in 2 hits which he gets no matter how close I get to killing him.

Yeah you have to use the firecracker things. I forget what they are called.

Edit: the firecracker Shinobi prosthetic. It stuns him. It's not just advice, it's pretty much needed to actually beat him.

Yeah, they don’t stun him very long though. In my old age I’ve gotten to where I can’t stand fighting the same thing 10,000 times. Thanks for the response.

I've got 4 FromSoft games on my top 10 of all games list now, but this is also the kind of game I like generally.

1. Elden Ring + DLC [ Reigning G.O.A.T. ]
2. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice [ Best combat system for boss fights - fair but requires mastery - this or ER would be my "trapped on a desert island" game]
3. Bloodborne + DLC [ Old Hunters boss fights and cut scenes are almost epic enough to catch Sekiro for me ]
4. Dark Souls 3 [ standing on the shoulders of such great games so it seemed inevitable, and was ]

Others in my top 10:

Witcher3 + DLCs [what a map, and story-wise just unreal, combat is only good in a few DLC fights]
RDR2 [all from story, crazy encounters, characters, Oscar-deserving acting, and map - boring combat]
Horizon FW + DLC [underrated]
Ghost of Tsushima [best general console combat system]
Skyrim +DLC
Cyberpunk 2077 + DLC [a huge leap for CDPR - the promise of this series probably won't be met but if it is then it would be epic]

Honorable Mention
Morrowind: Probably would not have played any of the games on this list if this one had not opened my eyes to the potential of the medium.

I have Tears of the Kingdom tops overall and it doesn’t even have DLC yet. I was already a big Zelda fan of course but what they did in that game with the huge push for creativity was awesome. I expected it to be very good and it still blew me away. ER plus DLC could slot in at 2 for me though. The DLC was amazing on top of an already fantastic game.
