It is what it is, but these outlets thrive on clicks and discussion so I am not surprised at all a few outlets used the first blemish on our record all year long to bump us off #1. Pretty crazy that it took us till the 3rd to last series of the season to drop one.
Collegiate Baseball dropped us also. Sweep vs 2-2, I have no problem. Somewhat takes the bullseye 🎯 off our backs and replaced the chip on our shoulder.

Lipcius is starting to look terrified when he comes up to bat. Gilbert and Stephenson look like they expect a double at the least.

The baseball aficionado in me is literally offended by this. Baseball is a game of stats...to a degree unlike any other.

UT is ahead of OS in almost every conceivable stat. Not the least of which is a 4 game lead over them in record and significantly more wins vs high ranking competition.

Using stats, justify OS being ahead of us.

Any poll who did so is simply saying, "look at me!"

There is the element of what have you done lately. These are polls, not seeding for the regionals. Don’t think the coaches are seeking clicks. The other two? For sure.

Polls are supposed to reflect the totality of the season. If they aren’t, then rank Kentucky. Baseball, of all sports, is the one you don’t want to overweight recency because baseball is a game of the long haul.

By any measure, ranking OS ahead of Tennessee is absurd.

I understand that element, I'm just saying it shouldn't be there. Yeah, we've only been .500 for a couple of weeks in the last month, but we were darn near perfect before.

Their little streak shouldn't make them the flavor of the week, other than talk. I totally understand them being the current darling. But they ain't better than us.

😉 Ya think it adds to the theatrics and drama 🎭 of the baseball regular season winding down? I do. Part of the college game that MLB can’t touch.

Obviously we want to maintain the #1 seeding for the national tournament. Best way to do that is to win at least 4 of the next six and then at least get to the championship game at Hoover. Do that -at least - and we take care of business.

Not really.
Baseball players stink it up from time to time and get to find a ride home ... NOT on the Team bus. [Yep! That happened this weekend. TV did not like the attitude of one of our starting players and they did not ride home on the bus.] I have seen junk pitchers win games and great pitchers lose them. That's just the way it is!
By stat measurements we should have swept or gone 2-1 against Ky.
That does not mean I think KY is a better team than TN.
Nor do I think that OS is a better team that TN.
But polls are ... a little bit ... what have you done for me lately ... kind of game!
You could make a case that TN's luck has finally run out and they are now about to show that they are not 'special.'
Baseball is a big mental game ... let's give it a week and see how things go before we declare those polls as 'idiotic.'
Players can get in a funk and sometimes it spreads .... and sometimes they snap out of it and get back on the train...
Baseball is a game of less than half an inch. The glove was a smidge too high and it is catcher interference.
1/2 lower with the swing and it is K or a pop fly or a foul tip in the dirt.
It is actually rare that the best team in baseball actually wins!!!
One guy being "on" if he is the pitcher can make a really good team look bad.
Or a lucky hitter guessing the pitch and location can make a great pitcher look like the pitcher is having a bad day!
The actual case is one player having a really good day ... and your team changes to win goes to about 75%. Two players having a good day and you are already thinking sweep.

Oh man, you and I both know you can’t share more details on the first note, but I’d certainly like to know more…

So do you know for a fact that a player was NOT ALLOWED to ride the bus? I know one player made previous arrangements to go with his family after the game to a family event rather than ride the bus home. I have not heard that a player was kicked off the bus. Not saying it did not happen but have not heard that.
