Rasheed Sulaimon dismissed from Duke

Yeah, I was a bit worried about how we didn't get a QB in 2015. I felt like we pulled a Joker and ignored some decent instate prospects. Reminiscent of Kyle Bolin, but I hope not. However, we do have Phillips, who from what people say isn't bad at all and competed well last year. Barker was/is very highly regarded and I think it once again depends on the offseason on who is 2nd behind Towles. My feeling is it's going to be like last year, and depend on a lot on the offseason. Whatever happens, we do have some good running backs though. Or maybe we could put a WR in there and see what happens :p

lol BBN is powerful.

BBN just doesn't have a quality forum on which to discuss all things BBN related.

Thanks for the insight LittleCat.
volfanhill - sorry for bringing up football on a basketball post not trying to change the thread. I am new to this forum. and have been reading LittleCat's posts and he sounds pretty knowledgeable on the info i was looking for. I didnt want to start a new thread or bring up a old thread already discussed, so first post I found with LittleCat's name i sent a post out to get his input. again my bad on invading the thread. I do enjoy the discussion here.

Thanks for the compliment. I'm probably not as knowledgeable as you think, but I do try and keep up with what's happening. Don't worry about people calling you out for posting in the wrong thread, it's not a big deal. Nice to have another UK person around.

Welcome to VN * cough choke *. :)

You don't get thread-starting privileges until 50? 100? posts, so you pretty much have to piggy-back on existing threads for a while.

And God knows that we don't have a ton of Kentucky football threads, which is for a reason. :whistling:

Wasn't giving you **** just trying to figure out the logic you used. Welcome to our board.

Lol. So Tennessee has a bad look too? Louisville? Laughing that you pin sexual assault on the school instead of the player.

It becomes not a good look for the school when it appears folks within the AD knew about the accusations and did nothing, Mr. Sanctimonious.

Glad to see you remain on your high horse, regardless of the thread.

And yes, I believe these universities have to be more cognizant of their athlete's activities. It seems like Louisville got it right. Tennessee? The jury is still out.

There was nothing but public claims by the victims. No evidence, no police involvement, nothing. I'll call UNC today and make claims about being raped by Roy. No evidence and I won't press charges, but clearly the only thing for UNC to do will be to fire Roy.

So, why is he off the team?

Because after a further investigation by the school more info was attained and he got booted.

You know, innocent until proven guilty. Had they pressed charges and more stuff came out a year ago or 16 months ago, boot him then. It's not about a high horse, it's about principles. You want to talk about looks for an athletic program, let's travel 8 miles down the road.

I can't argue about the troubles at UNC. They're pretty well documented, and sad. I just find it hilarious that you always are the first to defend Duke from the possibility of any wrongdoing, with it being the last bastion of righteousness and completely beyond reproach and all that.

Lol ok. Just put words in my mouth. This board is getting good at this. To blame a school for the actions of their students is laughable. As if they're supposed to monitor them 24/7 365.

That's the thing. No one has any idea why and every source says it's for a buildup of incidents rather than one big thing. Saying "Well, someone said he raped them, so he must be guilty and the school must be covering it up" is a pretty gigantic leap.

It's more than a leap at this point

Exactly. There are a lot of unknowns here and it sounds like a lose lose situation for all parties involved. It's amazing how some are already comparing this to the PSU situation.

How do you figure?

They got it right in how they handled the A.J. Johnson and Michael Williams situation. It's the other "rumored" sexual assault allegedly committed by a current football player that looks like it might have gotten swept under the rug.

That's what I'm getting at, but some of your contemporaries don't see this as a "bad look" for Duke.

For the last part of your statement, that's a pretty ridiculous leap. Nowhere near as bad as the PSU situation.

It's a bad look at first glance, especially with some of the headlines. The reality of the situation is different than the bad look. There are a lot of moving parts here and hopefully the correct ending will take place the way it should.

This is a much different situation than that of AJ and Williams. Obviously, I don't think the situation is even in the same ballpark as PSU, just surprised what I've seen on twitter and some other message boards.

:lolabove:

This Duke story is blowing up in Florida, as every local talking head is playing the "why isn't this being reported like Jameis Winston" angle.

Still many more questions than answers at this point.

According to ESPN, Duke student newspaper reported today that Duke and Coach K were aware of the situation as early as last March.
