Rashida Tlaib’s THOBE, and Ilhan Omar’s HIJAB, are making congressional history

Blue State Blues: Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib Silent About China’s Muslims

First-year Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Rashida Tlaib (MI) take pride in being the first Muslim women elected to Congress — as they should.

Whether they are doing a good job is another matter.

They have a lot to say about Israel — some of it antisemitic — as well as Venezuela. They also complain, frequently, about anti-Muslim prejudice in the U.S.

Curiously, neither one of them — including Omar, who has a seat on the the House Foreign Affairs Committee — has had anything to say in Congress about China’s persecution of Muslims.

I read that whole article (breitbart no less) and I didn't see any quotes that were overtly anti Semitic, she just said that Israel lobbies to influence our policy.. what is so absurd about that? How can you acknowledge the existence of lobbyists from top to bottom in our political system, but throw a tantrum at this suggestion?

The bipartisan attacks against her are telling.

I couldn't see the problem. Just like I've said. Criticizing Israel = anti-Semitism. Really disgusting that we are allowing our foreign policy and sovereignty to be influenced by Israel, yet we are going on wild goose chases about Russian influence in our country.

"I want to talk about the political influence in this country that says it is OK for people to push for allegiance to a foreign country," Omar said, according to The New York Times.

In a fiery statement Friday night, Engel, a New York Democrat, took Omar to task for yet another controversial comment over the political influence of pro-Israel groups on politicians.

The Democrat from Minnesota earlier this month faced criticism from both sides of the aisle and subsequently apologized for tweets insinuating that the pro-Israel lobbying group American Israel Public Affairs Committee, or AIPAC, was effectively buying off American politicians.

That was a fair criticism. AIPAC wields a disproportionate amount of power in Washington.

This country is paralyzed with fear of the Muslim people.

I’m just thinking from the standpoint of where their “religious” interests conflict with the interests of the hard left liberals, that dominate the Dem party, as these communities send more Muslim reps to DC. The fireworks should be entertaining within the DNC. It’s already showing.

I believe that you underestimate their intentions.

Still wondering what was anti-Semitic about her questioning AIPAC. Change the name to RusoPAC and people on both sides of the aisle would be questioning Russian influence in American foreign policy decisions, not racism towards Russians.

You're not wrong. But when her concern seems to be the influence of pro-Israeli groups and no other foreign interests, it's fair to draw conclusions.
