Rating the sec coaches strengths

Spurrier took a lot of lower rated talent and pretty much owned Tennessee in the 90s..he was arrogant and condescending and earned the right to be...we were outcoached even during the years that we managed to pull out a victory...including the NC year...he started to lose his edge in his last couple of seasons and needed the humbling that the NFL provided and the challenge the Gamecocks provided...I have no love for the man...he has a flawed personality because he is not a graceful winner and any QB he coaches has to lay low and not be too successful because that takes away from the Spurrier genius aura...that's why he's never really replaced Wuerfull...a perfect foil who could be successful and not enjoy it too much...I went on a tangent there but in my opinion Spurrier is a level above Miles for second place...just a better coach

Half of that post I agree with.

Hopefully CBJ will put an end to our streak to you guys and we can start a streak of our own. I sincerely hope you one day can feel and understand this hate firsthand! It kind of comes when you loose to someone on a regular basis.

You mean like growing up in Jacksonville, watching UGA own UF in the 70s and 80s?

Been there, done that. :)

For the gators, serious question, will Muschamp be on the hot seat if he loses to UGA three years in a row? That would put them 4-3 in the last 7 years.

Given what UGA lost on defense, if UF loses to UGA next season and UGA goes on to win the East, Muschamp SHOULD be on the hot seat.

UF lost its three best safeties, it's two best LBs, its two best DTs and 3 of its best 4 DTs, and you think we should beat UGA with Murray returning? I think UT should be revved and may beat the Gators this year. You guys who hate Muschamp had better get him and UF this year.

Yes, I do.

Murray played like garbage against UF the past two years. He's hardly the reason why Muschamp is the first UF coach to lose two straight to UGA since Galen Hall.

Why do people like to pretend that UF and UL had similar motivation going into that game?

It's a coping mechanism.

Muschamp lost to a Big East team in a BCS bowl game, so this clearly means Derek Dooley is a superior football coach.

I would put Miles in front of spurrier...... spurrier hasn't done crap at SC besides make it into a mediocre team. He hasn't won any kind of championship since he's been there. He was a Great coach at Florida.....but a monkey could coach UF with that talent pool.

And I would put Richt higher all he's done at UGA is make 10 win seasons.

And why would u put A&M coach above all those other great SEC coaches? He's just been In the league one year. Not enough information to rank him imo. Plus he has a Johnny Football.

Spurrier has a winning record against Saban and has won three in a row against UT and UGA. He has also beaten UF two out of the last three. He is arguably the best coach in the conference. We are talking about the perennial doormat that was South Carolina football.

You're arguing against a guy who thinks Dooley is a better coach than Will Muschamp. :loco:

Its like Richt and Spurrier are opposites. Spurrier is a great "game" coach and not a great recruiter, while Richt is a great recruiter but is not as good in games. With the guys UGA has had, they should have won a title by now. I dont think he ever does if he has to go through Saban to do it, imo. Spurrier with the same quality guys would have won a few nc's buy now.

So it's time to compare the current roster of sec coaches. Rank and what you think they bring to the table to make their program a threat to my Vols!!
1. Saban- Discipline, recruiting, coaching
2. Spurrier-Play calling, confidence, recruiting
3. Miles- Luck, recruiting, recruiting
4. Muschamp-Discipline, defensive scheme, recruiting
5. Kevin Sumlin- Johnny Football, offensive scheme
6. mark Rhict- Recruiting, Aaron Murray

This last quote is exactly why I disagree where Muschamp is placed in the OP list and the notion that discipline is his strong suit.

did you have florida going 11-2 in 2012 and appearing in a bcs bowl?

i know i sure as hell didn't.

in the last 40 years, 5 tennessee teams have won 11 games in a season (1989, 1995, 1997, 1998, 2001).

muschamp got it done last season
People on here hate muschamp because he turned us down!

He's also locking down elite in-state talent like Lattimore and Clowney.

But yeah, he hasn't done crap at South Carolina. Who are we kidding? :)

I agree with you.

Our defense was out of control and routinely out of position against UGA and Louisville.

Defenders were more concerned with trying to knock UL players out of the game instead of making a 3rd down stop.

Muschamp is an recruiter and excellent defensive coach, but I think at times our players fed off his emotion and got a little too jacked up.

Oh, so an unmotivated coach, or a coach that can't motivate his team, is who we should all be shopping for.

This is UT. After our last coach, we can recognize that a mile away.

to be fair, you can't come closer to beating bama and winning the national championship than being a tip pass away, the national championship game was the SECCG (like fla/bama a couple years ago), not that garbage ND brought from the north. They even had the right play call as the guy would have been open in the end zone if it wasn't tipped. One of the greatest CG's I've ever seen. UGA had them reeling and had them beat but I also hate bama (full disclosure)
