Raymond Cotton

This guy is exactly like Taj Boyd, if by the same you mean they are both black. After that, not at all the same. Taj Boyd has the potential to be a Pat White, if lucky. Last thing Tenn. needs is a 6"0" (according to rivals) QB trying to throw over 6"6" SEC lineman with 7" wing spands.
Not saying we should go after Cotton for sure, but he sounds like he has more upside than Boyd. The thought of Boyd (or anyone), basically running the "G-Gun" with some screen passes makes me want to puke. Boyd might end up being the real deal, but the day of the 72" QB is nearly gone. Their descriptions make Boyd sound like more of a true runner, Cotton more of a scrambler with a cannon. I know Boyd says he wants to play in a pro style set, but so do I. Doesn't mean we can be succesful. Cotton sounds like his arm and size at least give him the potential to succeed. But who knows.
boyd is not a run-first QB...look again.

His mechanics look really bad. The way he cocks his arm up gives alot of velocity, but takes along time, if he keeps it up he will need shoulder surgery in 3-4 years.

Seems very similar to Tim Tebow to me throwing (didn't see him running). I think he would fit in Florida's system alot better than ours.

Wow, after watching the game film, he reminds me of Tebow even more, lowering the shoulder on some guys.

In the elite 11 video, you can tell they are trying to change his delivery, and it isn't natural to him yet. Good project quarterback.

I'm not saying Kiffin would go after Cotton or anything...I'm just saying maybe Kiffin should...now who knows what CLK's plan for the future of our qb's is- whether he wants a qb this class or next...if it were me I would have a hard time passing the kid up. Cotton isn't gonna start in the SEC right away but he could play down the road and be a playmaker

I like this kid alot. Reminds me of Jason Campbell only Cotton is an entirely different player from an athleticism standpoint. Shows solid initial quickness to avoid the rush in the pocket and good presence to use his feet and make something happen. He has the arm strength to make extremely difficult throws running both ways.

Have we offered this kid yet?

I don't get it...Kiffin didn't want Boyd because he wasn't an elite passer. This guy has a great arm and good accuracy...he has the "pro-style" size (ht/wt) but he can also scramble...he's not a run first qb. So why the he11 wouldn't Kiffin want somebody who could scramble when the pocket colapses? I'm just sayin, Boyd was an athlete who could play a little qb, Cotton is a qb who is athletic. Don't be suprised if Kiffin went after him, not saying he is, just saying don't be suprised.

No offer, volguy's probably right though, Kiffin probably wont offer, but IMO he should. If you haven't noticed I'm high on him.:crazy:

if this kid was as good as passer as you say then he would be a top 5 QB in the country.

I like the way Kiffin is recruiting, but I do not agree with not getting a scrambling QB. As long as he is a pocket passer first and a run like hell second, I don't see the problem.

I thought the size and weight is what CLK was looking for, plus the fact that he can run is just even better.

Volnbama thinks recruiting services rank all the prospects correctly and are right on with all their evaluations...after all Colt McCoy and Sam Bradford were ranked in the top 5.(sarcasm is for you volnbama) :p When did Rivals/Scout/ESPN become the "law"? It's best to look at those services as a guide...which is why coaches watch film on recruits as opposed to just offering the top rated guys in each position. Noobs.

i agree, also. he is like a chess player that refuses to use his queen across the board. :unsure:

This guy has the size and arm strength that we need. So he needs a little work, he has to be better than " The Three Stooges".

Crompton = Moe
Coleman = Larry
Stephens = curly

Also
Bram cannon = Shemp
Tanner Shamblin =Joe

Only the true Stooge fans will understand.
