Ya dang right Matt Garza.

Kid is nasty when he gets his mind right.

Good job Garza. That's funny cause the Rays have had a no hitter and a perfect game thrown against them this year.

Haha he seems to be at times. backtobacktoback homers against the Orioles would've sent him over the line if there was one though.
He truly defines erratic. He fidgets on the mound like nobody's business.

If any pitcher on the current staff was going to pitch a no hitter it was going to be Garza.
Oh, and this sign owned..

James. Shields.

Yeah James "No Game" Shields has been fustrating to watch lately, i mean i think it's just mechanics and hopefully he can get it turned around soon. It's not as painful to watch as seeing Kazmir's career imploding right in front of your eyes last year.

Scott Kazmir's implosion/explosion/utter horrendous pitching has continued into this year.

I love that. Pound the zone.

I think that's a big problem with young pitchers these days. IF you have good stuff and can flat out beat guys then best them. Quit messing around with your breaking ball because you'll ineveitably hang one. I don't get pitching coaches sometimes...

The greatest pitching coach of this past generation, Leo Mazzone, had a simple message.

Work ahead with the fastball and throw often.

Too many pitching coaches in the high school, college and minors fall in love with having guys throwing off-speed stuff.

The best pitch in baseball is still a well placed fastball.

Craziest stat is... Matt Garza's fastball averages 91.3 mph last night, by a pretty wide margin that is his lowest fastball average of the year.

Younger, hard throwing pitchers need to learn that if you're struggling, harder isn't always better. Rarely is. Spot up, trust your stuff and don't try to do too much. Garza personified that, facing 27 batters.
