Rays Garza throws a no hitter

If a Rays pitcher throws a no-hitter and nobody sees it, did it happen?

There were seriously 9 people in attendance, Royals fans are laughing.

Not trying to belittle what he did, because it is still something to behold, except maybe this year, when a no-hitter/perfect game comes once a week it seems but you would think that Rays fans would eventually get the picture, this team is good and should be for the foreseeable future, don't be scared to get attached.

The attendance thing has been beaten into the ground i can't make excuses for folks down here or tell you that you should attend games,. Fact is that this new ownership has made it the cheapest baseball experience in the majors and there should be alot more people out at these games.
Three quick things i have mentioned before that i think are the contributing factors to this problem. 1) Location is horrible, if you have been down to this area before you will know that the population is spread out from one end to another by a good hour and a half. You have the west side of Pinellas which has no major connector to St Pete or Tampa which makes it hard to get from point A to B. The Tampa market has the smallest amount of people out of the MLB teams that have 30 minutes or less of a drive to the stadium.
2) Transplants, finding someone down here that's a native is tough, you have people that come as Yankee fans and Sox fans and Cub fans and are stubborn about opening up to a new team, the only solution to that is time, and generations of growing up with a team thats only 12 years old.On top of that you have a Yankee organization that's has their home base here for decades and that in itself causes problems.
3) Maybe this just isnt a baseball town, there is always that possibility. Football is king down here and i think being one of the last two expansion teams we reached the limit of teams that could support a major league team. It might catch on, it might not, but Gah as im sure you know Fenway Park was more often than not a ghost town back in the 60's and 70's and as many organizations will tell you, it takes time to build loyalty.

Solid points.

The transplant issue is definitely the biggest issue.

If any pitcher on the current staff was going to pitch a no hitter it was going to be Garza.
Oh, and this sign owned..

David Price has the best "stuff" in your rotation and it's really not close.

Guys like Price usually don't have as good of a chance throwing a no-no. He's around the zone often and hitters like to try and jump on a fastball to keep from getting to his other pitches.

He does have the best stuff, though. That's for sure.

Only 17,000 short. Ha. It is kinda sad I agree but I agree on the transplant point. Atlanta never sells out and their market is huge. 1. Because nobody wants to go down there and fight traffic. 2. Transplants.

Works for me. I'm near Howard and Bayshore.:good!:
It makes the most sense, St Pete is just a horrible location for a professional team. That area around the bridge would make a realistic for all areas involved. Getting it closer for USF students to go on a regular basis is a good thing as well.

It really is a shame, and this is coming from a guy who hates the Rays, but they are a very good team and deserve to be watched.

Of course it's a shame, i went through this going to games in mid June in 08 watching this team in first place defying all odds and there is a sea of blue empties everywhere. I just choose to not let it get to me anymore and enjoy baseball and this team's play in general..

I agree. That, combined with getting out of the current dome would go a long way.

I have noticed that while there doesn't seem to be as many fans, the one that are around tend to be more hard core.
