rb coaching hire

I think if you asked Hurd, he would laugh at you. Currently, he is 6'3 228 lbs. That is 5 months away from the start of his senior season in high school. What in the world do you think he is going to look like then? Or a year later in college?

There is no one else I want running the ball!

Reminds me of Dustin Greene (I think that was his name), great HS rb, but UT turned him into a te .. sounds like hurd is headed the same way, good chance he outgrows rb by the his freshmen year

I think Hurd will stay a running back in college unless he continues to get taller which is possible I guess. Brandon Jacobs is 6'4" but it's extremely unusual to see a running back that tall. Tim Spencer coached Matt Forte at Chicago and he is a relatively tall running back. Maybe that will help with Hurd if we hire him anyway.

Apparently according to TOS, there are three people in the race according to a source. West Virginia running backs coach, Robert Gillpsie, Tim Spencer, and some other assistant in the SEC apparently that I haven't heard of just thought you should know

That's probably Robert Gillespie. Played at Florida under Spurrier. Would be a decent hire.

Think this would be the ideal guy from the list of current candidates. Played in Florida, GAed at USCe, and understands what it takes to play and recruit in the SEC. Spencer with his pro ties would be my preferred next choice if Gillespie doesn't pan out.

Hey Vol Nation, where's the news updates on the coaching search. We know Spencer was interviewed earlier this week. It is being rumored that 2 un-named candidates were interviewed yesterday. Does anyone know the names? Are there any other candidates? Who leads right now?

Always a good idea to start another thread about the same topic as 14 other threads. Job well done.

No, I have not heard of anyone; however, I am positive that the new running backs coach will be someone who we have never heard of and will have ties to Central Michigan or Cincinnatti.

It may even be a person who played for CBJ at Central Michigan who is trying to enter the coaching ranks, so CBJ gives him a chance.

I really enjoyed the part where you used a question mark so I didn't think there was new relevant information.

According to 247 sports Manning is supposed to be going to Michigan so he is out. The search is down to three candidates Tim Spencer from the Bears and two new names Robert Gilespe from WVU and an unnamed coach from the SEC both have had interviews face to face with Butch. 247 didn't name the third candidate but said the interview went well. I say this won't go on too much longer.

Thanks for your daily dose of uninformed pessimism.

Those are good candidates, and I wonder who the third guy is. I have seen also that the search will not go on much longer. CBJ himself said he doesn't like to waste time with this stuff.

Yea, your probably right. But it won't be him or Spencer since neither played or coached with CBJ at Cenral Mich. or Cinncy. Haven't you been keeping up with our experts on the board?:p
