There seems to be a lot of talk about Hurd, Paulk, or Scott coming in and being the back up to Lane. But how does Justus Pickett factor in? He was a transfer from Maryland, I believe he is a RS Junior this year. From what I remember, he is pretty quick but on the smaller side.

Those guys(Hill and Pickett) will either fall over and play dead or compete and make the freshmen earn their time. I hope its the latter.

Justin Pickett and A. Hill will add valuable depth early in the workouts, but the Three Headed Monster will take over in the fall.

My two cents:
I think we will see more Scott this year as a change of pace back to Lane than we will Hurd. Hurd and Lane seem to have similar styles but I cant see a freshman coming of an injury beating out a senior.

(Waits for VN to start my Lynching)

when was our last game changer/badass threat at rb? Hardesty? Still not a threat to the whole d on every play. Probably coincides with our losing.

Just want to get back to the days of our running backs taking hand off hitting the hole and then having the speed to go the house.

Depending on how the coaches rotate them in and out, I can see us possibly not having a RB with 1,000 yrds, but having 3 or 4 guys with 400 to 600 yards apiece. Either way, this bunch should be fun to watch.

Lane runs north/south pretty well. He's not exactly a smash mouth RB, but he does typically seem to fall forward. He's shifty enough to get extra yardage without dancing and going backwards. I think if the pass game is consistent enough to open some holes in @ the second level, we'll see Lane rush for 1,000 yards in 2014. Not sure who the back up will be, but there's virtually zero chance (barring any injuries) of Hurd starting over Lane. Said this before and I'll say it again - if you have never played football or worked out in both your teenage and adult life, there is a huge physical difference between an 18 year old and a 21-22 year old.

I agree. The age difference is key. Many don't think it's that big of a deal

I agree. Lane has good lean and finish on his runs as well. He hasn't shown the explosiveness he had pre-injury but he will be pretty good this year.

Hoefully, Hurd & Scott can learn the blocking assignments real quick and can be on the field from day # 1.

Hurd will have the entire spring & summer semesters to learn them and should be ready to go in the first game.

Victor Wharton said in an interview that Devrin Young was moved to running back to make room for him in the slot. Devrin also looks a lot bigger.
