Barnes seems to harp more about too many turnovers rather than poor shooting percentage. We rank 177th among D1 teams in FG percentage. However, we rank 29th in Assists to Turnovers. It seems like we need more work on our shooting.

It was well known that Reggie Miller stayed after nearly every practice and would not leave until he made 300 shots, even if it took him 2 hours. Dedication to shooting practice = improved shooting percentage.

There is a pattern here. GREAT recruiting and then GREAT preseason hype and then GREAT early season play and THEN no low post play to speak of and can't hit the basket standing under it. Barnes is not the answer. Watching us fall in the polls is a yearly thing. Need to make a change.

No matter how much he's paid, Barnes is not the coach to take us deep into any tournament.
His greatest accomplishments as a coach are in his past, not his future and the game has pretty much passed him by.
Land all the 4- and 5-star recruits you want, but if you can't get 4 or 5 star performance out of them, what's the point?
UT is paying Final Four-level money to a coach who clearly isn't going to come anywhere within sniffing distance.
The good thing is that Danny White is smart enough to know this.

A few years ago Barnes developed low ranked players into NBA drafts that took us deep into the tournament. Now Barnes is getting higher ranked players. It's possible these players aren't putting in the needed work outside of practice to become what they could possibly be. I disagree that Barnes should be replaced. Replace Barnes and things could get much worse quickly. We as Tennessee fans need to stop acting like Kentucky football fans. Tennessee has always been a mediocre men's basketball program with a hand full of good years. Stop acting like we have always been elite.

Barnes' teams are the same every year just as op and texas stated. They start with very poor shooting every year, and then get better as the season goes. By the end of the regular the are usually shooting much better. He starts with the D and then teaches O as the season goes. He really doean't care what anyone else thinks. If you get what he thinks you should and still fail, then he blames himself.

Scoring has been way under par to dismal at times. We need the equivalent of running laps to the top of Neyland Stadium if you miss free throws. Ball handling second problem area. Finally, we play like individuals and ball hogs vs team. Bama, LSU, and Kentucky played like teams. All correctable. Just have to have the will and sweat.

Our shooting is terrible. Inside and out. Layups to threes. I don't know why, but it feels like we could transfer in the greatest pure shooter in the whole NCAA and he'd suddenly start missing wide open shots and free throws. It's weird. We look very awkward and uncomfortable on offense overall. If we can't hold teams to about 60 or less we're going to struggle. Come tournament time you almost have to have guys who can't miss with their eyes closed from the hash to make it all the way. We ain't there yet.

Last two games combined we’ve shot 49% overall and 40% from three. Not too shabby.

JMO but Powell doesn't know how or can't seem to make space to shoot. If the defense loses him, he can fill it up being wide open. Once he makes a couple, they don't lose him anymore. Like I say JMO.

With zero inside game, the perimeter gets extended creating limited open shots, the passing is not as crisp as it was at the start of the season, complete offensive breakdown over the course of the season, similar breakdown as last year when the offensive burden fell on Springer and Johnson

This is something that exasperates me and I have mentioned it before concerning the big "U". But applies to everyone. When in close you hardly ever see our guys try to dunk the ball! I see nearly every other team's players from "short guys" to "big uns" slamming in down when ever they get close enough. We just seem to pussy foot around under or near the basket and try to finesse a little bank or high arch basket. WHEN IN CLOSE SLAM THE DAMN THING DOWN!!

infuriating may not be a.
strong enough word
i was more concerned about unforced turnovers
They seem to look to pass before they look to shoot. I think they need to look to shoot first and look to pass second with the exception maybe being the point guard whoever that might be. It is ok to take a bad shot ever now and then as long as you don’t make it a habit. Play lose, not tight. Pearl’s teams are very good with playing relaxed. That is the only way to play basketball. Most coaches over coach and as a result their players often are a little tense. You can’t shoot well playing that way.

I find it interesting how many folks posting on this forum watch Auburn games. I’ve not seen one this season and likely won’t unless it’s against UT or in the tourney. I recall at UT Pearl had no problem getting on guys for stupid shots but maybe he’s changed his style? I wouldn’t know because I’m not an Auburn fan
