Feb 2013: Signing class ranked somewhere around 8th-10th in the SEC.

Spring Practice will be a highlight as the new Offense is installed and hope springs eternal.

Summer will be fairly quiet, discipline returns to UT.

2013 season:
Vols go from 2-0 early, to 3-6 through Oct grinder. Doubt will set in as losses mount.
Rebound at home to win against Auburn with first big SEC win since 2009.
Momentum carries through Vandy and UK to finish 6-6 and invite to BBVA Compass Bowl in Birmngham.

This is how it will go for the next 12 months. Brace yourselves for the downs, enjoy the ups.

Year one just show progression. Something real good would just be to see a team that played 60 minutes. Dooley teams were chonic quitters

Honestly,

Given our schedule, the fact we're losing our #1 QB, 3 Best WR, Best TE, 2 of our Best OL most likely, 2-3 of our best DL, and leaders like Lathers and Prentiss, the lack of a Top 10 Recruiting class (If that's the case), and the tough schedule we have, plus a new offensive scheme and defensive scheme....

6-6 is a success. Majorly.

I expect a replay of this season, maybe even zero SEC wins.

OK, I will use the basketball analogy again. Bruce did more with less. So can Butch.

Now, I didn't say: Butch will. I said it is possible. Being an eternal optimist, I'm predicting a top 12 recruiting class and a couple of surprising wins. I'll go 8-4.

First things first. Let's see what kind of staff gets assembled. So far, the presser seemed to say that he "gets it" at Tennessee. The staff assembly will tell ME if it is just talk.

Pretty much agree. I won't be disappointed as long as we show some improvement and buy-in from the players on BJ's system and coaching throughout the year.

I would be happy with 6-6. I would not be too disappointed in 5-7 due to new coaches and schedule. In 2014 I hope we can win at least 7-8 games.

looking for a 7-5 season 8-4 if he overachieves. i would be pretty happy. 6-6 and rumblings are gonna start. still look for neyland to be a pretty empty place this fall, going to be alot of cheap seats. so he better overachieve. honestly after sleeping on it lastnight still not excited at all to be the second best team in tennessee.

Although 6-6 is more realistic, I'm just hoping that we at least go 7-5 and get a surprise win.

Here's to unjustified optimism!

I feel like we will be 7 and 5. IMO we have great atheles on our team but they have suffered from a lack of development by our coaches. We will be pleasantly surprised by the strides a majority of our team will make throughout our off season.

I would have to agree that 6-6 is probably the ceiling. If the defense doesn't improve we could go 3-9.

Oh, and bama sucks.

Just read a plethora of positive comments concerning Jones from other HC's, sports analysts, and writers across the nation. Everyone from Coach Kelly to Charles Davis. All give glowing testimonials. BUT, now I am back in the warm comfort and positivity of VN where rational thoughts and cool heads prevail.

Yeah, 5 to 7 wins is a good goal. Just beat UK, VU, WKy, SAla, and APeay. Throw in 1-2 more wins from Missouri, Auburn, SCarolina, UGA, Oregon, UF, Bama (probably in order of difficulty) and I'll be fine for the first year.

More importantly in the short term is attracting/retaining recruits in the next 60 days. Good class to fit his scheme just might swing a few games.

I looked at UofCincy's recruiting class - bunch of **, ***, and NR rated players... I was not overly impressed. I do not think Jones will help our recruiting beyond what Dooley did. Now, looking at next year's schedule, considering the current players who will probably stay, and the recruiting class prospects (and I know it may change +/- drastically):

Austen Peay................... W

W. KY............................ W

@ Oregon....................... L

@ FL............................. L

S. Alabama..................... W

GA................................ L

USCe............................. L

@ BAMA......................... L

@ Mizzou....................... L

Auburn.......................... W

Vandy........................... L

@ KY............................ W

_____________________________

Record forecast: 5 Wins... 7 loses. I hope I'm wrong and we go 12 - 0, but we go 6 - 6 at best with maybe a very low tier bowl. Again, I hope I'm wrong, but I'm not addicted to Jones Soda any more than I was to Doolaide.

GBO..................... anyway.

See, I think that Mizzou and Vanderbilt are winnable. We would have beat Mizzou this year had it not been for the bad decisions of Dooley.

Vanderbilt is getting better, and yeah, they killed us this year. BUT....I think Butch is a better gameplanner. And I don't believe they have better talent than we do.

And also.....I don't think that Auburn is a win. Auburn has a ton of talent. They just lacked a coach. I think Auburn COULD be a win, but it's not an automatic by any stretch.

or maybe 5 or 6 wins,it is going to be hard to tell anything till a couple of games are played
