FAIL! Vols don't lose anything here. Has OP been on Mars?

Hard to say right now. No one knows how these guys all turn out. Now perception wise and for those whining about the overall class ranking, the reality is if UT had signed 3-4 more of these instate 4* guys and took 3-4 fewer 3* out of state guys the ranking looks very different. We'll see how it all plays out. I'm one who is curious how instate recruiting goes next year with our staff deciding to pass on all these guys this year. Maybe there is no effect. Maybe there is.

Saw this on another site:

"Unfortunately, Butch Jones didn’t completely fence off the state this year. He lost the three top Tennessee prospects to Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, and Oregon."

Is this really true and if so, why? :eek:hmy:

2* & a couple walk ons.

"really?" should not be allowed as a thread title.

At least be a little more clear next time. If it had said, "Butch missed on some Top 10 Tennessee talent", I probably wouldn't have even clicked.

Lets see.

Joejuan Williams is literally dating Derek Mason's daughter...

We wanted Dillon Mitchell but we took WR commits too early and offered him too late (he's an EE). That's how it goes sometimes. Oregon was in on him before us and he visited them several times so they put in the effort and got him. Great athlete.

Bryce Mathews had a strange recruitment, to say the least. Was thought to be an A&M lock but Ole Miss got him.

Nigel Edmons. DB. I think we had guys ahead of him on our board. Signed w/ Cal. Not a big loss IMO.

Okkeke we had guys ahead of him at safety, particularly Nigel Warrior.

Donte Vaughn was down the safety list as well. We made a slight push but it was pretty obvious that Warrior would be our only safety.

Dodson seems like a great player. His recruitment blew up fast and he committed to A&M rather quickly, so it goes.

Thanks for the recap Kirby. Nice work ! :clapping:

I say 'really?' to you OP for holding judgement on our staff and mouthing off without knowing the details of this year's recruiting cycle.

Nothing "unfortunate" about it. Calculated decision.

There are only 2 players in the top 10 that I wanted other than the ones we got. And both were never gonna come to UT

Thanks for taking the time to address my question Butch. I know you're busy so, really, thanks

Mathews is the only one we really pushed for early and wanted IMO. Idk that we ever wanted Williams while jancek was here.

So you started a thread like a little girl and then only responded to the ones you thought you had a smart comeback too! Are you 8?

I think y'all are too hard on the OP. I took it to mean he saw this on another site and the "really" was he couldn't believe they said that. God bless!

The Memphis kid that chose Oregon salvaged what looks like a turd of a class for them.
