I liked the way Marcus Spears put it. "I would rather have a running QB on the field because you have one job, hit him, that's it. Hit the guy. When you have a guy sitting back there somewhere carving you up and all off a sudden three touchdowns are on the board... you don't even know where they came from, you're looking around like... what happened?"

Wow, I agree with you. I loved the niners growing up. Montana, and Young.

I liked Joe, but Young is by far my favorite QB ever I loved the way that guy played. Probably my second favorite player behind Ronnie Lott, that dude was a monster.

Not saying either term is racist (that's a little crazy IMO) but if it is, doesn't possession receiver also have to be "racist"?

Fran Tarkenton, Steve Young,
Eric Crouch, Tim Tebow - all examples of dual threat quarterbacks. Not a single one of them black. This seems like classic ESPN time filling.

They had some freakish talent for several years, and fun to watch.

So Cowherd is talking about this today and he read the quote. It's something to the affect of "Because I'm a black QB people assume I have to run before I can throw. It's something I've dealt with all my life but something I found about football is that I'm able to show them what they are missing when they think that." - Again not exact quote but pretty close. When you hear the whole thing it does make sense and I guess I can understand it.

Not every black QB is labeled dual-threat. Byron Leftwich, JaMarcus Russell, and Jameis Winston were/are 3 of the most prototypical drop back QBs imaginable. Nobody ever said they couldn't throw the ball.

It isn't a knock on black QBs that they can't throw; it's a knock on dual threat QBs generally that they can't throw. One among many critiques of Johnny Manziel going into the draft was that he couldn't make "NFL throws." Same with Tebow. There were/are some doubts that Mariota can make NFL throws. Dual-threat guys, generally speaking, are stereotyped as not being able to throw but it doesn't have anything to do with race. It just so happens that lots of black QBs are dual-threat.

These types of conversations are part of the Social Justice Warrior path ESPN is taking with their programming now that SportsCenter and a lot of their other shows have been rendered irrelevant.

It blew up on the radio yesterday because deshaun watson tweeted it or something. I guess Joe Montanna and Doug Flutie are too old for 2016 to remember.

Fran Tarkenton was pretty slippery. Can't wait for the day when color of skin isn't an issue ANYWHERE.

MLK said a man should not be judged by the content of his character, but by the color of his skin...

Wait a minute.. That's not what he said.. my bad. :p

The things people twist around and reach so far for to get offended by?!?! I liked the post that said the term "kicker" means white guy. Lol

DT means a QB that can run and throw. No more, no less. GTFO Watson. Dude is a beast on the field but,

"Aint nobody got time fa dat"
