After reading the new article posted on mrsec.com, why should the Vols take not try to get Zach Mettenberger? Is it worth the risk?

Mettenberger Could Come Back To Haunt Richt, Georgia MrSEC.com

Anyways, the article makes it seem like he will be free to transfer anywhere he wants. He is a solid QB who might want some revenge on the Dogs. Where better to do that than UT.

Thoughts?

I don't think taking a player who was just kicked out of school for sexual battery is the way we want to go. If Kiffin was still here, maybe.

So is this an attempt to take a shot at Daniel Hood?

I think you are reaching waaaay too hard here.... Zach was kicked out of school for sexual assualt in the last few months, he has barely had ANY time to show remorse or convince others he has been rehabilitated. Completely different than D. Hood.

No way we take a chance on this kid. Clearly, he has issues that will force a good number of FBS teams to steer clear. My bet is that he ends up at a FCS or D-II school like Hampton, Texas State, North Alabama, etc. willing to take a chance on a guy. I'd be much more happy if we just stayed away from him. As for Hood, he himself wasn't the one who sexually assaulted or raped his cousin(I think it was his cousin), he was charged in the detainment of her against her will mainly if I'm not mistaken.

yeah the story does make it seem like he's able to go anywhere he wants to (at this moment) seeing as no statements have been made from anyone pertaining to the situation. If that stays the case, then lets look at what we would be getting. Provided he would be interested in coming here and the coaches would be interested in taking him.

Physical Att. 6'5" 229 in high school coming off a year and a half in an SEC training room. Was redshirted if I'm not mistaken. Great size for a quarterback, has incredible arm strength. Performed well in practice. ESPN compared him to Eli Manning fundamentally wise.

So we get an SEC ready quarterback, ready to compete make our other quarterbacks better. With that being said. We weren't even considered in his high school recruitment.

Take the good with the bad if we are given the chance, provided he is on a short leash.(no pun intended)

I like him better than Murray who they still have from that class.

The word down here is that he's going to Louisville.

He's taking a visit to Louisville...hopefully that's where he ends up....UT doesn't need that kind of press, Kiffin is gone....and I'd like to see him beat UGA when they travel to Louisville in '12

Pass on him, good talent, but not worth the risk.

If he calls us intersted I think we should maybe talk to him but we have to worry about our actuall recruiting class. I think he would be good to have on the team he has the talent I think to be a good SEC QB. He just has to get his head on straight.
