Recruiting Big Uglies in 2011!

I'm not sure about decent at LB. I'd be worried about lack of speed and athleticism with that unit for the future. Getting AJ Johnson is a help. Hopefully they can land at least 1-2 more of his talent to finish out this class. DB they have actually recruited solidly so far IMO so it isn't going to be a huge worry in the future.

Had high hoped for Jerod Askwew comming out of high school. Maybe he can learn the system soon and jump right in. He's got the talent to be a monster.

LV or JMoore, who do you think is better Derek King or Avery Walls? It seemed like we led for Walls and have now stopped recruiting him. I was impressed w/ Walls rivals videos seeing he could run and hit. I don't know much about King, but w/ Walls now being invited into the army game, it just doesnt seem to add up.

LV could answer this better than me but I've liked Walls from day 1. I like his versatility. The staff loves King though, he is physically ready to play once he steps on campus. I wouldnt have a huge problem if the staff took King over Walls, but I would question them if they took Tino Thomas over Walls.

Someone must be watching a different team dressed in orange than I am. We are not good at reciever (they make a few catches, but seldom put on a move) Special teams is a laugh, and our linebackers are making so many plays because the d-line and DB are both playing soft. We better shape up quick if you ask me

I'm simply saying we have warm bodies with potential in those areas. We are definitely not performing well currently.

According to the above post we need 13 more players to fill our needs for this class, & I agree with him. Problem is we only have 11 spots left.

I should have been more clear on my breakdown of numbers. The optimum would be if UT could take 14 based on most of the scenarios that I've seen posted.

However, since they can only take 12 more, it will be interesting to see how they fill the remainder of the needs. What are the priorities from the staff's perspective?

Here's my guess...

Offense: 12 Commits
  • OL: 3 commits. Take 2 more (including Clear, who could also slide over to the DL).
  • TE: 2 commits. No more.
  • WR: 0 commits. Take 2.
  • RB: 2 commits (Assuming Young). No more.
  • QB: 1 commit. No more.

Defense: 15 Commits
  • DT: 2 commits. Take 2 more.
  • DE: 1 commit. Take 1 more.
  • LB: 2 commits. Take 1 more.
  • DB: 4 commits (including Loften). Take 2 more.

I didn't include Dixon because, based on Hubbs recent comments, he may not be a definite take after all.

IF you count Dixon & Young to the class then we only have 9 spots left.

Included Young at RB. And left out Dixon due to Hubbs comments. But you are correct, that would leave 9 spots.

LV, I saw where Wilcox and Dixon were saying the opposite earlier. Just sounded like there may have been some recent developments by the way Hubbs was responding.

However, assuming Dixon does get in, my guess is 1 more DB in the class (6 total). Just can't see them taking 7 DBs, Otherwise, there are going to be some tough decisions on where to take less.

He is sticking by his guns. He was saying the same thing before the article on Dixon came out.

Hunter is amazing and will only get better. Neal looks to be the future and jump over OKU as starter. D Rogers looks lost and needs to learn how to run a route. Hunter is our future WR by far.

I don't see it with Rogers but I'll trust ya. Hope that happens with Loften too we need him.
