Where do the Vols stand with him?
Posted via VolNation Mobile

I have no idea. UF dismissed him although Meyer didn't want to. Everyone knows he had to because his situation was with a girl that was a UF legacy. That said the dude is an absolute animal. Best DT out there by far IMO.

This Gary Brown?

Gary Brown - Yahoo! Sports (2009)

Gary Brown - Yahoo! Sports (2011)

5star and #3DT in 2009. Sounds good to me, hope we have a shot :good!:

Yes that is him. I'm just saying, if they are looking for the best available DT out there it's him. 3 to play 3 is another positive. I'm not sure what kind of chance Tennessee would have with him but he's going to be someone everyone in the country goes after IMO. Usually immediate PT is a much bigger factor with JUCO's than high schoolers and Tennessee has plenty of that to offer at his position.

I've lost a fair amount of respect for Vol Nation this offseason. I realize I shouldn't judge our fan base by message boards, but the negaVols have been disheartening...and even before CDD has coached a game.

Why is it everytime someone has high hopes it gets kicked? If someone wants think good things stop saying wait a minute, it gets old.

i agree. im not one that thinks natl champ this season but c'mon. we are not that bad.
why does everybody on here feel the need to bring everyone down? so what if we lose 10 games this year? if people want to still dream of championships with a 10 loss season, let them be.

You can never put an exact number on this, but I think that one advantage of Dooley's recruiting style is that more of his commits will stick with the team if our fall is rough. He seems to make recruits really think things through before accepting (going public?) with commitments.

I doubt many. Dooley isn't selling this year's record as a factor to most of these kids. I can almost guarantee that he has explained that this year isn't a real measuring stick for the staff

I think this thread should be merged with the "worst class ever?" thread. Just for the lulz.

I honestly think with Kerbyson and Posey on board and guys like James, Stone, Fulton, and Pair from last year, Richardson will end up a DT here because 1. He's a beast and 2. He will see he can play right away there. So here's how I see the class breakdown ending up (I'm going to include Richardson at OL because he will begin at that position first)

QB (1) -Worley
RB (2)- Smith and Buie
WR (2)- Arnett, Dallas
TE (3)- Clear, Downs, Power
OL (4)- Kerbyson, Posey, Crowder, Richardson
DT (5) - Carson, Saulsberry, Wright, Williams, Couch (I think we will end up pulling him here with the depth issue and guaranteeing him playing time right away)
DE (2)- Parker and IMO we will get either Tuitt or Drew.
LB (3)- Townsend (really good friends with Pat and in the end that will win out), Harris, Johnson
DB (5)- Martin, Walls, Coleman, Randolph, Countess

That leaves us with about 15 4-stars when it's all said and done and high 3 stars for the gazers.

Any thoughts?

Pretty much spot on take out Drew and add Alexandro Antoine, Toby Jackson. Also possibly for the OL the West kid from KY, Clark from OH or Gabe Wright's teammate McKinney. Derek King may take the place of Coleman or Countess and I would probably say Countess.

I'm trying to determine just how many UT can take in the 2011 class (25 NCAA max and any back-counts). Not talking about the SEC max. for signees, but how many can really be offered scholarships?

If I have my numbers correct, UT got 29 this year, including EEs and signees on and after NSD (according TOS, Jackson from USC counted as a signee). With this in mind...
-3 or 2 were back-counted to the 2009 class.
-21 or 22 counted under the 25 NCAA max. enrollee for a class rule, however
-1 is definitely not eligible (D. Clark)

I believe that leaves 3 or 4 spots for the remaining 4. If 2 qualify, that would leave 1 or 2 spots in the 2010 class which can be filled with EEs in Jan. 2011.

Does this look correct? Also, will UT re-recruit any 2010 commits that didn't qualify?

I was thinking for some reason that we only had 2 or 3 spots for the four left remaining after the Darr signing but could be mistaken.

I believe LWS said that we have 2 spots left for the 4 remaining.

Jordan Williams, teammate of Saulsberry.

I thought we wanted big DTs. He only weighs 230 according to Scout. Plan on corn feeding him? We gotta do a lot better on DTs. Some of these guys are doubtful unless they really put on some weight.
