I agree. However, on a whole, I think as fans, there's a emphasis to dwell on the negative plays Joe made today. I.e. not making a throw downfield on the first offside, or throwing a horrible pick in RZ. Both freshman type mistakes. If Joe is still going to make these kind of mistakes, why not just let Nico do so as well and gain experience? As you alluded to it's not as simple as that, but we as fans like to react to singular plays, and there were a couple WTF moments for Joe today.I just don’t understand why fans think Nico, at this moment, is automatically better. It’s just not quite that simple.
We have always talked about coaches needing to adapt to the players strongsuits. We finally have a coaching staff that is doing that and we complain because we aren't last year's team on offense when we lost four draft picks and are still actually rebuilding. Joe is who he is and we are getting just enough to win games. I'll take a W every day and twice next Saturday. It’s a different team than it was last year. Folks wanting last year (including me - last year was really fun), and coaches just winning with what we have this year.
