It is amazing to me that, even with the bumps of this season, some people cannot be excited for the direction of our football program. We were a 3-7 football team with a mediocre defense and an offense that had to be put on life support to score at all. In just two short years, we have gone 7-5 with a screw job loss in the MCB and 10-2 with a gritty pull away win against Clemson in the NY6 Orange bowl last year. We have a great shot at being 10-2 or 9-3 this year which most people would have given @drvenner's left testicle for 5 years ago and now all the whining and bellyaching about going to "pointless" bowl games from a bunch of people on here just grates my nerves. Just enjoy watching this team and let Heupel and staff grow too. He is still a young coach with a lot of football to learn in front of him too.

I think the attitude "only the playoffs matter, only the championship matters" is just another symptom of the NFL-ification of this once great sport. Lousy attitude that takes away from what made college football fun and unique so that we can turn it into another sport with a pointless regular season.

Wonder if this was the ref of the Mississippi game couple years ago

The head official in the Ole Miss game two years ago was demoted after that year. He is the second official in the backfield now on his crew. That crew did our UK game last week with Steve Marlowe as the head official.

Playoff expansion makes it worse too. (Thats not a college football issue, but in all sports.) MLB just had an 84 win team make the WS, the regular season becomes irrelevant when you let a ton of teams in the playoffs.

I kinda liked the 4-team playoff. Avoid those weird years like 2001, 2003, 2004 where you had to leave a worthy participant out, but don't expand it so much that you run the risk of ending up with a 3-loss national champion. Single elimination tournaments are fun but a poor method of determining the true greatest team in the sport that year.
