Dobbs also played in 37 games.

It can't just be about volume. It's about efficiency (given some minimum number of games, attempts, etc).

Casey Clausen played in 44 games. That's the guy closest to Dobbs. And if you want single season production, Dobbs is tied for #1 all-time in program history with Peyton Manning for TDs in a season when he scored 39 total TDs in 2016 as well as #2 all-time in total yards in a season behind Peyton.

Whether it's career totals or single season marks Dobbs is at the top alongside Peyton. Here are those numbers for the record: Tennessee Volunteers football statistical leaders - Wikipedia

Honestly, he was probably a late bloomer. Happens a whole lot in basketball imo

I met an American guy once who was 6’10” and played in Germany and had a few cups of coffee in the NBA. He wasn’t recruited out of high school because he was a light, 6’2” guard known for his quickness. He had an unexpected growth spurt in college and wound up parlaying that into a 15 year professional basketball career. Not bad!

When I grew up baseball still seemed popular. And now it dieth a slow death

I'm not gonna say baseball is as popular as ever, but this stat is poor evidence.

So more people watched a single championship basketball game than people watched on average 5 series games, including at least one of which was after it was pretty clear who was going to win? So what?

What if the basketball championship was a 7-game series, with little doibt who the winner was going to be by the last game? I doubt the numbers would look as good.
