I agree and very few college athletes go to have pro careers but all the same there are many great players here, and they never get scholarships for soccer unless it’s D-2, D-3 in the Midwest. My boys have offers all over the Midwest but want to stay in Florida. Unfortunately 95% of D-1 soccer rosters are South American and European. Like others have said, they’ll play club and go to the best college they get accepted.Men's college soccer is a joke anyway due to title 9. Most public schools don't have a team because the don't have enough female sports to keep up. Club teams are where you really have to go if you're serious about it. Almost like a minors for MLS
Title 9 is killing wrestling in highschool also. Tennessee now has to have a 16 man bracket at state because girls is a 16 man bracketWhat did WVU do?
1985 Tennessee wrestling finished 8th in the NCAA's, 4 All Americans, 1 National Champion. 1986 had another All American and was his redshirt freshman year. When they got back to Knoxville from the national tournament Doug Dickey congratulated them then told them he's terminating the program. I think that year Dickey terminated several men's programs to funnel money into the big 3 sports and keep the department in-line with Title 9. LSU and Tennessee were the best SEC wrestling programs and got canned the same year.
It was an unintended consequence of Pat Summitt's efforts, and she was sick about it. Her husband wrestled for Tennessee iirc.
