My kids go to his high school

I overlapped with him three of the four yeats I was at NCSU. He was a very special talent. Unfortunately serious knee injuries stripped him of what made him so special (ability to play well above the rim although he was only 6’ 3”) long before the end of his prime.

I read his salary was $23k per annum but with good healthcare and a 401k

Apparently he kept the job, despite not enjoying booth work, so he could keep his health insurance

OMG that is so horrible. Hit by bat likely means one of his teammates is gonna have to live with what happened even though it was an accident. That's one life lost and another that will be forever changed.

i love Heup and think he is doing a great job but it’s nice being compared to Butch, Dooley, and Pruitt.

Understand but how can you tell a kid how much their "name" is worth? Is different than a salary technically. We all know it really is a salary but.....

Be like the PGA being able to limit Tiger Woods on how much he can make in endorsements. That'd go over like a ton of bricks.

Once the schools are the ones paying the athletes a cap could work. I think that is what will happen very soon. Then NIL deals would be a bonus on top of that and be more like they are supposed to be.

We pretty much just talk about football but what about other sports? The gymnast from LSU makes more than most football players and it's truly based on NIL. Amount of social media followers and such and how much she can influence a brand.

Until the athletes are employees I don't see how any limit could stand up in court.

The gymnast at LSU is prob the only one really making it on NIL and she's doing it on sex appeal less than on any athletic accomplishment (and no I don't mean to say she's not talented just that the money she makes is somewhat tangential to her sport - she was making money prior and the sport gave her a wider audience to sell being young. blonde, and hot). Other athletes are getting NIL as a means to get them to play for a team but not really because anyone cares about so-so selling them ice cream or whatever.

I just looked this up. She mentioned it in her book. I was unaware of her of that part of her story.

I take Wes’ comment as a compliment of her strength. My wife battled infertility for 10+ years and I don’t find it offensive to Pat.
