Who cares? Still got to win on the field but 70 million a year to play baseball is making a life long baseball fan begin not to care. I would think the Braves would be stupid for it and wonder if 3 guys at 25 per doesn’t make more sense. See how much more arm trouble he may have. Good luck with it but that contract is ridiculous
not at all….. they are estimating that he is worth 40-50 million per year by just being on the team…. The Dodgers don’t just go out and buy a roster…. They only have three players that would fit that criteria… The majority of the rest of the roster has been their own development(which is one of the best in baseball) and a fewer lower level signings…. i get to watch Shohei play every single night which is worth it to me.

The money is stupid, but even if he never pitches again the Dodgers will make it back ten fold. Just watch night in and night out how many Japa else ads you see watching Dodger games. Then merchandise, and then I saw a twitter post, after the announcement opening day ticket prices are now 359 a piece.

Multiply that by 50,000 a game....times 81 games a year ...excluding playoff games...

Nice little amount...

Not counting ,Beer sales, food and Merchandise...

I'm way too lazy to do that math but yeah.

And unlike some teams ( my Braves) the Dodgers don't care about luxury tax so their owner is gonna continue to spend and try to put studs around him

Apparently he deferred the majority of the money, so they don't need to break the luxury barrier to put studs around him

This right here. I realize it's market value and all that but meanwhile the only people who can afford season tickets are corporations and it costs about $400 to take a family of four to a single game and MLB is sitting here wondering why fewer and fewer people are watching and going to games.

This will bring out ,the Asian fans in L.A. to ball park every night...

Stadium will be packed to see Ohtani...

I remember the Valenzuela phenomenon in 1981, stadium was filled with Hispanics just to see their hero and icon Fernando...
