Recruiting Football Talk VII

This was pointed out on The Bennington Show a few weeks ago.

Players and coaches, playcallers, assistants waving sign boards, get-back coaches, all make dozens of mistakes a game.

Understood by everyone watching sports.

Refs make mistakes and people are suddenly aghast.

Makes sense.
Officials making mistakes is not the entire problem. Many times their "mistakes" are egregious and they use "human error" and "judgement calls" as an excuse for the horrible officiating. They change the rules on the fly (blowing plays dead several seconds after the snap), they lack any level of consistency, and they have zero accountability for their poor performance. The problem is that no serious measures are being taken to correct those mistakes.

The quality of their officiating points to a problem with the entire process of an official being certified as capable of accurately and evenly enforcing the game rules.

Officials should all be trained to make the proper calls. They should all have the same training and they should have continued education as well. Mainly, they need to be full-time employees and required to maintain a license for officiating.

People are going to makemitsakes, that's what we do. . . but there is no excuse for allowing it to continually happen year after year without instituting measures to help insure that the mistakes are kept to a minimum. If the current process isn't working, it needs to be adjusted.

I don't think there is a sports fan on the planet who would want any game manipulated by an official. I would certainly rather the game be decided by the players and coaches.

It ain't NiL. Read what folks have literally said about the why. No need to be ostriches.
you are so gullible…… Tennessee may have offered more but Colorado probably came close…. Colorado has two players in the Top 10 in NIL in college football. They use Deions connections to get NIL deals for a few select players.

9-3 floor next year, OU, Bama and UGA are the sure Ls, the rest I dont see us losing just at a glance
OU? I’d say toss up. They’re beatable. Lost their QB. I know it’s on the road but I’m not going to completely chalk it up to a loss. Bama is beatable. The rednecks act like we suck but for the first time in forever Bama games are actually competitive.

Floor? lol. A lot of people said that this year (9-3 floor), counting any game "we should be favored in" as a win. Which doesn't work out at all statistically. Feels like a misuse of the term.

Floor is closer to 7-5 imo. If we're talking an actual floor with some statistical meaning. Imo it should mean everything below it is cumulatively 5%. Maybe 10% tops. Ie very unlikely, which is why I like closer to 5%.

8-4 or worse has to be 20, 30% at least.

If it was at home I would say a fs W, but you know how we are on the road

IMO if you had to group games it looks something like this:
UGA- around 2 TD underdogs
Bama- 7-10 pt underdogs
OU-3-7 pt underdogs
NC st, Fl- less than a TD favorite
Arkansas, UK- around 7-10 pt favorites
Vandy, Miss St- 17+ pt favorites
Rest of non-con: blow outs

dont like NC st as Nicos second ever start but at least it’s neutral site

I just hope Wright shows out for the draft and goes pretty high. He's been durable 3 years and he played in 34 of 39 games (assuming he sits out the bowl game). He's carried it at least 80 times every season, over 135 carries the last 2 and he amassed 2297 rushing yards a 6.2 career YPC with 18 TDs and this season he showed his ability to catch the ball with 22 receptions (3rd most on the team).

All while playing in a RBBC his entire career to prevent excessive wear and tear.

5'11" 200lbs+ and I think he'll run 4.4s with the potential to hit 4.3s
Yeah I think he’s around 210/215 now and if he runs in the 4.4s or better (which I think he will), he’ll probably go within the first 3 or 4 rounds. Would look great to be a Day 1 draft pick though.

Disagree on OU. They lost Lebby. That’s huge. It’s not easy to replace one of the best OCs in the nation. We found that out. Plus losing Gabriel and a bunch of OL will hurt them. I think we will be a slight favorite going into Norman and I think we beat them.
