The analysis for the football program was more than just turning ourselves in. People can debate it all they want, but it led to firing a bad football coach for cause, saving $10 million (minus expenses) and ultimately causing further investigations by the NCAA on our campus. It also resulted in the coach getting a show cause which currently prevents him from getting a job at Bama. In hindsight, the correct moves were made.
I can still accept that we may not "win at all costs." I am as competitive as the next person, but integrity does still mean something to me, especially as an alum of the university.
Just land a shuttle craft with the fold up wings right next to the stadium and post a squad of storm troopers to guard it while you head to the game. No problemo.Under a mile for sure. Prefer less than that. Not too concerned on $. Just want to be able to get out and head east without too much hassle.
9-3 could get a playoff birthSorry, but I can't see 9 wins on this schedule. First, we have 4 sure losses in UF, Bama, UGA and OU. Second, I'll believe road wins when I see them. NC St is a "neutral site" in Charlotte and @Arky are 2 huge opportunities, but away from Neyland? Nah. I'd hope for a split of those 2 games and hope we can hold serve at home. 7 is about right......assuming our portal prospects remain as they appear a this point in time. Now if they go out and fill our needs with really good players, my confidence level goes up by a game....maybe 2.

Congratulations and thank you!Not intending to be a self-serving post, but this place is like an extended family so: Retiring today. 39 years teaching Math /coaching HS Football, several years with Wrestling and Track. Time to spend time with wife and help look after our Moms. Gonna start tutoring Math online, so if yall know anyone that needs that service, send them my way. Excited to see what God has next. GO VOLS!!
Think we are in a calm “before the storm” scenario with recruiting?UT is allocating resources at a "win now" level. Football should not take a step back next year-- not with the resources invested in this program. The expectation is to compete for championships, and that is the goal every year. Sooner or later, investment and results will have to sync. I'd go with sooner.
what makes OU such an automatic loss?Sorry, but I can't see 9 wins on this schedule. First, we have 4 sure losses in UF, Bama, UGA and OU. Second, I'll believe road wins when I see them. Best wishes for a great "retirement" that keeps you busy with things you "want" to do instead of "have" to do with those you care about and serve.
