Randy Wallace, a reserve quarterback, threw an 11‐yard scoring pass to Larry Seivers with 2 minutes 38 seconds left tonight to give Tennessee a 7‐3 Liberty Bowl victory over the Maryland Terrapins.

Tennessee, appearing beaten, got new life when Maryland tried to punt and Marion Koprowski's snap went over the head of Phil Wagenheim. The Vols recovered at the 7‐yard line.

Wallace, replacing the injured Condredge Holloway, found Seivers at the back of the end zone on third down after Maryland's all‐America defensive lineman, Randy White, appeared to have stymied Tennessee's last effort for victory. One play before the touchdown pass, White had thrown Wallace for a 4‐yard loss. Six minutes before the winning touchdown, White blocked a 31‐yard field goal attempt by Ricky Townsend after Holloway, who was hurt on the play, mishandled the snap.

The Terps threw a late scare into Tennessee, driving to the Vol 20 with time running out, but a defensive back, Ernie Ward, killed the threat with nine seconds left when he intercepted Bob Avellini's deflected pass at the 2.

Tennessee, improving its record to 7‐3‐2, was a one‐touchdown underdog to the 10thranked Terps.

This is funny because Murray isn't throwing shade at the program or wondering if there's something going on, he's throwing shade at the players leaving saying they "not liking all the competition?"

It's not a problem for Bama or the Vols.

It's strange seeing a 7-3-2 record with ties. I'm glad they're out of the game

The Preds beat the Hurricanes in OT!

*Disclaimer: I have now officially watched more professional Nashville hockey than I have professional Nashville football this season. 😏

*And the TN Hillbillly in me got a little loose tonight...... The Canes scored on a power play in the 1st period, so everyone gets a free blueberry biscuit tomorrow morning at their local Bojangle's locations. After we scored in OT, I yelled "enjoy your bo-berry biscuits, Canes fans!". After a couple of dirty looks (from them and my wife) I happened to remember that I don't care near enough about Predators hockey to get whooped over it. 😬

**I can't wait until the b-ball team beats up on the Wolfpack tomorrow night. Raleigh won't let me come back. GBO
You realize the game against NC State is in Tejas, correct?

It would, but no one would care or remember it later.
I still remember the 1985 season really well. We did not win the NC, but we thumped a great Miami team in the Sugar Bowl and a great Auburn team with Bo. We also beat Bama thanks in part to an epic interception by Dale Jones. We finished top 5 and came out of nowhere and many people on here remember it as well. It does not have to be a national title season to be memorable.

One of the quirky things about the old system is that the talking heads would spend a month before bowl season basically deciding who the national champions would be, and that year, a lot them presumed it would be Miami (even thought they were ranked #2).

So when you showed up and outclassed them in every phase, it was so easy to feel like champions, and it was hard for others to tell you that you were wrong.
