This is Sabey -- who made his name solely by buying recruiting classes (cheating with impunity) year after year -- facing for the first time ever a situation where other teams are allowed to use NIL.

There is literally no evidence that Sabey can win at Bama any other way: it has literally never happened. He still has the massive recruiting advantage of stacked illegal classes. But he has never outcoached anyone at Bama: That has always been a lie.

There has been no "drop off" at Bama. The difference is cheating-with-impunity is less valuable now. Sabey's reputation is 100% built on crooked enforcement.

Sabey is also a jerk who takes all the credit when things go well but scapegoats his coordinators when Sabey fails at anything. He is a terrible CEO.

Has he cheated sure, but lets settle down a little.
This group he has right now is the highest ranked recruiting class ever. Its a combination of things. Yes, NIL has changed a lot of things, but also the constant assistant coach turnover has finally caught up to him. Kiffin, Pruitt, Smart, O Brien arent walking through those doors to be his OC or DC anytime soon.
