Recruiting Football Talk VII

Auburn hosted Mississippi State offensive tackle transfer Percy Lewis on an official visit and the Tigers are now a finalist for him.

He also visited Arkansas earlier in the week and following his visit to the Plains, he will no longer be visiting Ole Miss.

“I just took two visits — I ain’t going to take no more,” Lewis told Auburn Undercover’s Nathan King. “It’s time to narrow it down because it’s getting about that time again. So I ain’t going to keep going on these visits. I’m just going to narrow it down. Get home tonight, do a little thinking by myself and just make my move in the morning.”

Did he have a change of heart?
Sounds like he liked the numbers Auburn quoted him.
Shut it down after visiting them.

Must watch/listen.

Tim Duncan is my all-time favorite player.

I had no idea that Coach Barnes had successfully recruited him at Providence (I knew about Jason Williams and a few other future NBA role players). Even more crazy that Providence wouldn't let him oversign Tim Duncan knowing 2 players were leaving their team.

As he says in that interview, if he was allowed the keep that class, and stay at Providence, he whole career would have been massively different. Quite the understatement.

Nothing gets UT fans riled up more than somebody saying boosters are meddling. It's a real mystery why these boosters always go unnamed.
All right you got me! I’m the one.

I said we better get an OL coach that can cruit, or I’m going to stop sending in that $10 dollar check every year

Uh, I didn’t see it in bowl game. Maybe I missed that

I think you would credit his decision-making more than his pocket presence, though they do go hand in hand.

he hung in there a couple of times early on, but Sampson didn't catch it, and Keyton missed one too.

but here are some examples:

1:36

2:28

3:18

4:07

5:08

Just watching that video, you see great decision-making, and an overabundance of POISE.

The Boosters don’t even know who would solidify the offensive line…. They need to stay out of the decision making process… DW needs to shut that sh&t down if it is factual in any way.
Agreed with you. This makes no sense.

Sometimes I think some guys on here are on Basillio’s production team and are trying to amplify his narrative du jour. it’s exhausting. And honestly, as hard as they work at it, they should be getting paid if they’re not already on the payroll.

Like a previous poster said, big boosters are probably sick of ponying up funds to fortify the OL just to have the position coach continually drop the ball.
If we are not getting anybody, what exact funds are being misspent? I mean, if offers are turned down, how does that money get wasted?

And the RT ahead of him is gone now. So now he is the starter until we get someone better.
Have you seen the Fall camp depth charts already? If he does start, the staff believes he gives us the best chance to win. I would not feel great about it, but I am going to let it play out between now and then. Long way to go until NCSU.
