Recruiting Football Talk VII

4 years ago today the great Kobe Bean Bryant and his daughter lost their lives in a helicopter accident..

RIP.
Mamba and little Mamba..
His last game is one of the MOST rewatchable sports moments ever.

The team stunk. Was playing for nothing but Kobe's swan song. Losing badly.

Then Kobe...older and wiser..took it upon himself to start finding shots. His Q4 performance is the stuff of legends.

I got it for Christmas too...... Just go pay your bounty and you won't have them looking for you!
Yeah, I know.....I'm going to have to pay it. I was wandering around the waterfall (after killing the 4th wave of bounty hunters) and a "legendary fish" location popped up. After a couple of casts, I hooked it and then fought it for 10+ minutes. I almost had it to the bank and I hear "well, lookie what we have here". Yep....more freaking bounty hunters. I tried to surrender but messed up on the buttons..... again. I ended up quick scoping one of them, so I had to kill the others.

I went and rode back to Annesburg to pay the fine. *I bought the pump action shotgun while in town for $145, so that was a bonus.

*I'm going back NE to Doverhill to catch that legendary fish and kill that legendary moose later tonight. 😤

(I didn't have a lot of money earlier in the game and turned myself in at the jail. It cleared my fine for a fraction of what I owed.)

Looks great and I’m pleased

I still have a hard to evaluating teams and talent - before, average recruiting rankings from the last four years was a great indicator. Now it seems much more opaque.

All told - I think Tennessee will go into next year with the deepest roster they’ve had in probably two decades. But just exactly how good it is is hard to evaluate…

Sorry to hear about your cousin! 🙏
Yeah...it really sucks...you know how life is, you go different directions and lose touch with old friends and family...It had been 10 years or so since the last time I had seen him, he had went off in a bad direction after his 2nd divorce, so he lived alone and had evidently been gone for a couple of days before he was found...they don't think drugs or foul play were involved from what my Dad told me, they think he just had a massive heart attack.

I have a phone with Quad DAC. Says it makes headphones sound great. . . then I learned it only works with really high-end headphones. Cant remember the specifics. It was marketed as any headphones would sound phenomenal, then you find out later they have to have high-end specs to work.

Get you some 64 audio trios or some grado ps2000e's, that'll trip the quad dac, they said. . .
Ya, I'm not a headphones guy, but I've heard it's a complicated product.

In general though, for a tech product, I'm not buying najythimg below a 4.5 rating.

Great game. One of the most enjoyable I’ve ever played. The finale is something else.

That is the best game I have ever played, get ready for a sad ending in it though
I'm really liking it, I don’t have a lot of time to play. I just started the 3rd chapter and probably need to focus on the story but I keep getting distracted. I recently got the fishing rod and it's eating up a lot of my time. I've not played playstation since COD WW2 came out.... I've gotten rusty.

I thought that was obvious. AL and GA have the most talent outside of OSU. They are protected by the officials. We are all hoping the expanded playoff changes that. That doesn’t have to be accomplished this year alone.
I am curious to see if they decide to put us in that group now..surely they need to "promote" more than 3-4 teams with the playoff expanding...a most favored program status change would be awesome, but I really doubt it happens for us.

I really don't even want a license to cheat with impunity like UGA and Bama have been given...I just want it to be what it is SUPPOSED to be...a level playing field.

Not sure I can agree.

MJ's last game he only scored 15 pts... in a 20-pt blowout loss. He wasn't great by his late 30s if we're being totally honest.

Kobe put up 60 and a W in his finale. Not thay he was great either ATP, but quite the last hurrah.

Now...I'm sure there are others, much more meaningful last games. I doubt Kobe's even ranks top-10 historically...as far as an impact on the team or league that season. Just thought Kobe's was so fun to watch. He caught absolute fire for the last 15 minutes of his career and that made it very special.

Its a game youd need to play 2-3 times to fully understand the story, Ch3 is where things really get good and 💩 hits the fan

I know I saw this answered at some point recently, but I can’t find it now. How many scholarship roster spots do we have available for the 2024 football team, assuming no one else leaves? Is it 2?

He owned us with Hooker because his talented DBs were allowed to maul our WRs to mess up timing while the line was good enough to stop our run game. Smarty Smart even said this with a grin on his face. It wasn’t some exceptional scheme that out thought Heupel.
Plus...our OL had a ton of procedure penalties thanks to the noise+pressure of a great defensive front...and that is a death knell to offenses 90% of drives when NOT playing one of the greatest defenses ever.

That defense, as great as it was...sure as hell didn't stop OSU on a neutral field with neutral officiating, and that offense is not completely dissimilar to ours.

It's like people hear stuff from a lot of jackasses and it sticks.

Like em or hate him he unlocked something Richt never did and Richt had perennial talent. I think Kirby is to defense what Heupel is to offense. Many people here are unwilling to see excellence outside our program. Saban may have had all the tricks in the world, but he's the SOB that unlocked them. It wasn't the dudes before him at Bama. Plus he did it at LSU too. If Heupel is going to be like those guys we better unlock some of this bs we claim the other teams have.
