Would love to see it saying that NBA teams at top of draft usually draft these 18 year old players to develop them or think they're a Franchise player.

I think 15 to 20 range maybe he falls into a playoff teams lap. The Mavericks per say..

@butchna what you think about DK playing alongside Luka, Kyrie and Grant?
Something they need and don’t currently have.

I'm really liking it, I don’t have a lot of time to play. I just started the 3rd chapter and probably need to focus on the story but I keep getting distracted. I recently got the fishing rod and it's eating up a lot of my time. I've not played playstation since COD WW2 came out.... I've gotten rusty.

You can take your time enjoying all the other stuff that you can do. No reason to rush the story. I find it better just wondering around then periodically doing a story mission.

I don’t know the same people you do.
Not talking individuals. Ofc individuals will have all sorts of opinions. Folks from Indiana probably think he's the best ever.

Just talking experts and players. When I've seen their all-time lists. I've read probably a dozen top 50s or top 100s lately and that's my general takeaway. I'm sure someone has him in their top 5 out there though. He's just more of a consensus top 10 guy. I see him a lot in the 7-8 slot. Splitting hairs...

How many times has 70 been dropped since 2000-Today?

How many times was 70 dropped between 1975-2000?
From 1995-2004 there have been 6

9 from 1961 - 1994

The older ones were bigs being fed and utterly dominating guys not in their league (Wilt dominates this stat with 6 just himself - greatest athlete all time)

Since then it's really been a variety of high-volume SGs doing it, except Embiid. Interestingly, none of the top all-timers have a 70 pointer. They also tended to pass more. Jmo.

Edit: Luka and Embiid are on par to be all time greats. Up there with Jokic and Giannis of this generation.

Another problem with modern basketball is also a strength of the modern player. Deep shots.

You have players shooting feet outside the three point line. Sometimes so deep no one is even guarding them. It is a testament to their skill as a shooter, but it is not often engaging to watch. Not like a guy cutting through the lane to dunk on someone. Statistically it makes total sense, but it is often less entertaining.
3S are boring?

We'll disagree. And this definitely is a driving league. It's part of the analytics. It is 3s and cutting or PnRs.

Prior it was either midrange jumpers or bigs slowly playing in the paint. Yes there were great drivers from the 80s on, not so much prior.

But if you think watching a Steph or Ray Allen or Reggie Miller is boring, idk what to say. The 3 ball is the most exciting shot short of a dunk.

I don't see Ross as a freshman starter right? He's really really skinny for a starting SEC edge? I think he'll be elite here, but he looks like a high school kid right now (because he is, not a knock on him).
He’ll have to put on weight and give up basketball.

So...

Modern offensive minded Basketball = bad / old school, defensive minded Basketball = good

- but -

Modern offensive minded Football = good / old school, defensive minded Football = also good

Why the difference?

Right.

I just don't get the disrespect or hate. Both versions of both sports had their positives and served their purpose at the time.

I appreciate both. I loved watching 80s, 90s NBA as a kid. And defensive football growing up. It served its time and place and was elite.

And the same for now. Some are just inflexible and unwilling to change. Or, in this case, full of cognitive dissonance, as you astutely pointed out.

I've never weighed in on this debate, mostly because I don't care about basketball; but it seems like the difference between Brady and a host of other QB who are more physically talented. In a random pickup game, MJ would get schooled by quite a few other basketball players. Same for Brady (though football is much more a team sport than basketball, so his strategy of taking far less money than his market value to be on winning teams is the main reason for his success, in my opinion).

But over the course of a long season and long career, when mental toughness and will to win matter a lot more than they do in a single game, both just seem to have what it takes to sustain success despite their inferior physical talent and measurables.

LeBron and Kobe are obviously superior physically to MJ, just like dozens of QBs are obviously superior to Brady from a talent and physical standpoint; but MJ and Brady found a way to win despite that, and that's why they had the greatest careers.
I can agree with this. Love MJ and Bird for their determination and toughness and will to win. They were fiercely competitive. Not interested in a ballerina with a basketball no matter how athletic they are.
