No, not in the new playoff OT rules. With both teams getting to possess no matter what, it’s like college OT. Have to go defense first. Impossible to say for sure, obviously, but if they had gone defense first, they probably win that game. Chiefs went for it on 4th down in their own territory because they knew they had to score. 49ers could have gone on 4th and goal if they knew they had to have a TD. Two sides of the same coin. Both benefitted KC because the Niners went on offense first.

i understand what Barnes claimed and have seen other coaches claim something similar…… The overrated chant has been around forever as a way to talk trash to highly rated visiting teams when you beat their azz…. If you don’t want them chanting then don’t get your azz beat…. its really not any deeper than that.

you can’t do that in pro football bc if both teams scored a FG/TD….you would be the one getting the ball back with a chance to end it

The quote wasn’t that he “didn’t want” them chanting that. He just said it diminishes what they did by beating his team.

Barnes simply said what many people have said for years.

Fair counterargument, and maybe that’s what Shanahan was thinking, but IMO it’s really really dumb to play for the third possession. You have to survive the first two possessions first, or the third possession never even happens. Congrats to Kyle Shanahan on getting the third possession in OT tonight! That was huge!

I’m a Titans fan, but they suck. They’re a terrible franchise. Until the front office staff gets out of the way, they’re going to continue being a terrible franchise. And I wouldn’t wish anyone I respected, like JJ, to become a part of the Titan’s roster until they get their crap together.
