Also unrelated, Tim Duncan really gets no respect for how good he was.

1 of 6 players to reach 3,000 blocks (more than Ewing, Shaq, Alonzo, KG, & Ben Wallace)

1 of 7 players to reach 15,000 rebounds (more than Malone, Parish, Hakeem, Shaq, Barkley, Rodman, & Ewing)

1 of 22 players to reach 26,000 points

Only him and Kareem have done all 3 feats in their career, Kareem played 168 more games & 2 more seasons though.

Wilt also would be on the list if they recorded blocks when he played.
The Big Fundamental always gets underrated simply because he had zero flash in his game.

I wanted to say THANK YOU to whoever suggested listening to Sturgill Simpson during the "country music is dead" discussion a couple of weeks ago. My wife got me the "Metamodern Sounds in Country Music" cd for Valentines Day and it's exactly what I've been looking for. 'Long white line' and 'Turtles all the way down' have that old school, country sound I love and the rest of the album ain't bad either. (I would have probably enjoyed 'It ain't all flowers' more , if I would have been on LSD.)

*Anyone wondering, he's like a mix of Waylon Jennings and Keith Whitley.

Good call, VN!

Check out Vincent Neil Emerson if you like this genre. Texas country songwriter who has some Townes Van Zant/Willie Nelson style to him.

Blindly caught him live recently and came away very impressed. Think he will blow up.

I'm showing my age........but that year was so special in college basketball.
Pulled for UNC back in the Dean Smith era, so I didn’t properly appreciate other programs. That was a fun Syracuse squad tho and Keith Smart’s performance in the win was epic. Glen Rice for Michigan was the only one better imo.

The 1989 Illinois team was one of best teams not to win National Championship.
1983 Houston Cougars
1985 Georgetown Hoyas
1991 UNLV Running Rebels
These were the other 3 imo.

Yes, that was awesome. I'm sure others mentioned it but of course, the strong Houston team and UNLV were amazing stories in the NCAA basketball tournament. Still can't believe Houston lost.

Greg Gumbel (in the near future):

“Moving on to the South Region in Dallas. The 1-seed there: the Tennessee Volunteers, in their seventh season under veteran head coach Rick Barnes. They’ll be taking on the 16th-seeded Huskies of the University of Connecticut…”
Bama is on the selection committee. It could happen.

They are stacked with most returning including their QB, not to mention the transfers they got. Looking at their schedule and only Georgia looks like a hard one for them. Not a stretch IMO to suggest they would go undefeated this season.
I'm moreso banking on the SEC grind go cause 2-3 losses this upcoming season. They got lucky alot last year with an easy schedule. Won't be able to sleepwalk through their schedule this year in the SEC.

Hmm. We laugh now, but Texas is built to dominate in the NIL era. There’s a legit scenario in which they start to rule the SEC in the decades to come.
Yea decades to come sure, undefeated next year tho? I don't see that. Texas has a good team no doubt. Better bring it game in and game out going forward tho. No Iowa St or Houston on the schedule.
