Pretty simple.
1. He went hard into politics twice while having zero intuition or background to inform him on how to go about being a political commentor.
2. He has a grating personality. Every time he speaks it has a weird entitled patina to it. When he was 18, a great publicist could have done him some huge favors. I don't think he ever took that aspect of being the biggest superstar in the sport seriously. And he doesn't have any natural charisma.
I mean that's it. Statistically and personally he is pretty infallible. I doubt anyone will ever have the longevity he's had ever again.
Couldn't care less about the debate. Simply because people will look for whatever convenient stats they can find to discredit him. And there aren't that many at this point. These are people who haven't watched an NBA game since the 90s.
The fact is that we were debating LeBron vs Jordan as the GOAT 10 years ago. Well LeBron has been a top 5-10 player for the entire decade since then. What else is there to say...
