I don’t understand NFL GMs. This guy has averaged roughly 25 catches, 355 yards, and less than 3 TDs per season the last 4 seasons, and made $16M last year. SMH
He was definitely overpaid last year compared to his production, and probably the couple years before that too. His contract this year though only has a $3M base. That's very reasonable. If he hits a bunch of incentives and it goes up closer to the $8M number, then that's a win-win. I don't expect him to have a great year though and I'd also be surprised is he plays more than 13-14 games. If he can be a solid 3rd target for Tua and hit anywhere from 300-400 yards though than that's already more than what Miami’s WR3 did last year who was paid a base salary of $7M. So not a terrible move at all for Miami.

Is he a bust? No. Is he a superstar like he was projected to be? No. Is he an average QB that is not good enough to prevent his team from eventually looking for a better option at QB if he doesn't significantly improve his game over the next 3-4 years? Yes.
He was a former #1 overall pick. He was touted as the most NFL ready QB coming out of college since Peyton. He is on the line of a bust. If he were a 3rd or 4th round pick then he would not even be talked about as a bust. But #1 picks are held to a different standard. And by that standard Lawrence can easily be considered a bust.

He's a multi-year NFL starting QB that is about mid-pack amongst starting QB's - in that QB12-QB18 range. He isn't a bust. If he doesn't pick up his game in the next few years though, his team will eventually move to replace him.
