Recruiting Football Talk VII

So from a Vandy insider: Mark Cuban has apparently become a major figure in Vandy athletics. He wrote the check to buy out Stackhouse's $20M contract. He's apparently about to put a lot of money into Vandy' basketball NIL.

Also, Vandy fans and donors are irrationally upset about Corbin getting dogwalked by Vitello. Some other donors are coming together this offseason to put together a massive NIL program for baseball to keep their recruits from going to the minors. They also might make a run on Elander to be their hitting coach. Corbin is staying, but some assistants might get goned.

They've given up on football. They want to get baseball and basketball fixed before they even start.

They have no administrative support and their AD is an idiot. Academic elites that place no importance on athletics and would probably rather they didn't have sports. As we all suspected. Supposedly some effort to change that coming, and the AD has her head on the chopping block.

There's been a recent upwelling of support to move to the ACC. However, Mark Cuban is supposedly blocking it. He wants Vandy to stay in the SEC.

The reason Mark Cuban is secretly involved with Vandy athletics is because his daughter is at Vandy. She's the only one of his children to go to college, so he's supposedly very invested in the university through her.

very letharic, bad game. we were due a down game but thought the rivalry would push us through today. We didn't even show up.
Geeze- Louis, what a pathetic, un-energetic first at bat... Wake up boys, don't give them any life or hope!

pathetic first at bat.

why did we chase so many bad pitches? CM looked lost.

LOL... well 0-2, we're gonna need to wake up if we want to sweep these nerds.

this game has been so disappointing--- flatter than a pancake all day, lethargic play, chasing every pitch... Had to have a down game, but thought surely due to the overall rivalry, we'd show up today... kitties back on top.
It's kind of like you not showing up for the two wins, to take the series...not one single post; yet, here's your clown ass now.

Hey, jerkoff, you're not fooling anyone.

Vitello broke Vandy baseball with the quickness. Love it.

This does take me back though. Mid 90s Knicks-Pacers playoff matchups were amazing. Starks, Ewing, Smits, Miller, Oakley...those 2 teams went hard. No love lost.
The Reggie Miller vs the Knicks 30 for 30 was great. I’d watch the NBA again if the league returned to the 80s/90s NBA.

Ron Mercer lit up SHHS. First time Id ever heard of Oak Hill. I think we beat them once, it was a big deal.

After moving to a private school, we played them again. We were really good, ranked. It was crazy seeing all those dudes on same court. Beat our bball team in a close game.

Watched Ron Mercer and Drew Maddux when they played for Good pasture.

Good pasture came to COSBY to play a game in 1994.

Yuck.

Was definitely a special time and place (as a series). Nothing like it before or after.

The league was regularly being deemed a "thug league" which made it demonized during the time. But it was undeniably interesting with all the drama and beef, as well.

I will say this: Mark Cuban doesn't strike me as someone who throws money at things that won't potentially bring back an ROI. Owning the Mavs was probably fun for him, but you also stand to make a lot of money operating a professional sports team.

It does check out that he would get involved with basketball. And maybe he envisions an ROI if he gets superstars at Vandy that rep things he owns and makes money on as part of their NIL.
