I mean....I'm not saying the horse was juiced, but that would absolutely allow him to beat the field soundly if he were on steroids.
No, it would not. Not by 31 lengths!! Trust me… I have had plenty of racehorses on anabolic steroids back when they were allowed, and they do not beat the field by 31 lengths. On top of that, even if he did get steroids in that time period, then I guarantee every other horse in that field was on them.
 
I've read recently that the 2nd place horse that year (Sham) would've won every other Kentucky Derby. Just not fast enough that year.
Would be remembered as one of the greatest thoroughbreds of all time, if not having to race against the overwhelming GOAT.

Sham also ripped out two teeth on the starting gate at the Kentucky Derby. Bled the entire time, and still finished 2nd.

Horses were tougher then, not soft like today's version.
