I played in a charity golf thing earlier this week that ex Lady Vol AD Joan Cronan was at. I got to chat with her a bit and of course, I asked about her thoughts on Coach Kim. Her face lit up and said "She is the real deal. " She said she had been to multiple practices and that Kim has the ability to have all of the girls love her while being very tough on them. Joan even went as far as to say she may be tougher than Pat (followed by a big laugh)!

I asked her about NIL and how Title IX was going to ultimately be impacted. She is not a huge fan (no surprise) of how NIL has evolved, but understands the reality of it. She thinks the current NCAA House settlement won't make it due to lawsuits waiting in the weeds. She predicts without some kind of guardrails, that the only sports that will survive at most major universities will be football, men's and women's BB, and baseball/softball. Most everything else will be killed off slowly.

She was really fun to speak with and had a ton of stories. I had no idea she is 80 as she has the energy of someone in their 40s. She is the is the very definition of a VFL.

I was always impressed with her. Very positive attitude with a quick smile every time I spoke with her. Thanks for posting this as I had not heard anything about her recently. Glad she is doing so well - great person and VFL.
